FULLERTON, Calif. - Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia struck out 10 in a complete-game, two-hit shutout over No. 3 Florida in Friday's first game at Anderson Family Field, but second-ranked UCLA dropped the nightcap, a 3-1 decision to Michigan.

In game one versus the Gators (20-2), Garcia allowed just six baserunners on two hits, two walks and two hit by pitches. She had 1-2-3 innings in the fifth and seventh, striking out a pair in the first, fifth and sixth. The Bruins (16-0) had seven hits from six different players, as junior Bubba Nickles recorded two hits.

The game's only runs came in the fifth inning, as UCLA hung up a four-spot. Sophomore Kinsley Washington led off with an infield single, freshman Kelli Godin bunted for a hit and sophomore Briana Perez walked to load the bases, with Nickles driving home Washington and Godin to make it 2-0. An RBI double to left off the bat of redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan plated Perez to up the lead to 3-0, while a single to center from Garcia scored Nickles to extend the advantage to 4-0.

In game two versus the Wolverines (7-8), UCLA (16-1) was held to just three hits, including only one from the first inning on. Freshman Megan Faraimo struck out two in 5 1/3 innings, giving up three runs and four hits. Sophomore Holly Azevedo got a pair of outs in relief, including one strikeout.

Perez led off the top of the first with an infield single and moved to second on a single to right by Nickles. A fielder's choice by Jordan moved Perez over to third, while another fielder's choice from Garcia scored Perez to put the Bruins up.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth when Michigan scored three times.

The Bruins continue play at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton on Sunday against Connecticut at 11:45 a.m. UCLA was rained out on Saturday of its doubleheader versus Auburn and LMU.
