Perez and Sullivan Homers, Garcia Pitching Sparks No. 2 Bruins to Win Over Utah

LOS ANGELES - Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia tossed her sixth complete-game shutout of the season, while sophomore Briana Perez and freshman Colleen Sullivan hit home runs in a three-run sixth inning, as the second-ranked Bruins blanked Utah, 3-0, on Friday at Easton Stadium.
Garcia, who improved to 19-0, struck out seven in seven innings, giving up two hits and one walk. She had 1-2-3 frames in the first, fourth, sixth and seventh and had a pair of strikeouts in the fifth and seventh innings. The Bruins (41-2, 15-1 Pac-12) had five hits from five different players.
Utah (15-30, 4-12 Pac-12) left three on base, while UCLA stranded four before finally breaking through in the sixth. Perez led things off with a solo homer to right, her fourth of the season. Two outs later, and with redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan on base after reaching on a fielder's choice, Sullivan connected on her third homer of the season, a shot to center, to bring the lead to 3-0.
