Bruins Sixth Heading Into Wednesday's Final Round

PULLMAN, Wash. - It promises to be an exciting final day of the NCAA Pullman Regional on Wednesday, as through 36 holes, the Bruins are in sixth place at 9-under 551. UCLA shot a 4-under 276 on Tuesday at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course.
The top five teams following Wednesday's play will advance to the upcoming NCAA Championship (May 24-29) in Fayetteville, Ark. While the top four teams (Texas A&M, -23; Oklahoma, -20; Georgia Tech, -19; BYU, -17) appear to be set, the battle for fifth place on Wednesday will be between eight teams. Colorado State currently holds the magical fifth spot at 12-under (548), three strokes ahead of the Bruins, who have a one-shot lead over seventh-place South Carolina (-8), a two-shot advantage over eighth-place Florida and Kent State (-6), a five-shot edge over 10th-place Michigan State and Purdue (-4) and a six-shot lead over 12th-place Northern Colorado (-3).
A trio of Bruins are tied for 26th, as junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara and sophomores Devon Bling and Eddy Lai are all at 2-under 138 after two rounds. Lai posted the round of the day for UCLA with a 3-under 67, making five birdies on No. 13, 2, 4, 5 and 9 and two bogeys. Bling shot a 2-under 68 on five birdies (No. 10, 14, 2, 5 and 8) and three bogeys. Yoshihara tallied a 1-under 69 for the second day in a row, recording three birdies on No. 10, 12 and 2 and two bogeys. Senior Cole Madey is tied for 31st (-1, 139), shooting a 2-over 72 on Tuesday on three birdies (No. 14, 16 and 8), three bogeys and a double. Senior Patrick Murphy is tied for 49th (+2, 142), scoring a 3-over 73 on four birdies (No. 11, 14, 2 and 7), three bogeys and two doubles.
The final round for the Bruins starts at 8 a.m. off the 10th tee on Wednesday in the order of Murphy, Madey, Yoshihara, Lai and Bling.
