LOS ANGELES - Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia tied a season high with 15 strikeouts, while senior Brianna Tautalafua hit a home run, but the second-ranked Bruins dropped a 5-3 decision to No. 6 Arizona on Thursday at Easton Stadium.

UCLA (45-4, 19-3) had eight hits from five different players, as Garcia, Tautalafua and junior Bubba Nickles each recorded a pair of hits.

Garcia had at least one strikeout in every inning, fanning the side in the second and seventh and two apiece in the first, third, fourth and fifth. She gave up five runs (four earned), six hits and two walks.

The Bruins scored first in the first inning, as Nickles extended her hitting streak to 17 with a leadoff single, with sophomore Briana Perez following with a bunt hit. Garcia then tapped a ball to the 3-4 hole on the right side for an infield hit, and Nickles never stopped running, rounding third and coming home with UCLA's first run.

After Arizona (41-11, 18-4 Pac-12) evened things with a solo homer in the fourth, the Bruins scored twice in their half of the fourth. With two outs, Tautalafua launched her third homer of the season to straightaway center to give UCLA the lead back. A walk to freshman Colleen Sullivan, a single for sophomore Kinsley Washington and a walk to freshman Kelli Godin loaded the bases for Nickles, who singled to second base to bring in Sullivan to make it 3-1 Bruins.

The Wildcats would tie the game in the fifth on a two-run homer and went ahead for good with a two-run shot in the seventh.

The Bruins look to bounce back on Saturday at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Network and will feature free live audio on UCLABruins.com.
