
Yanovsky Solid on Day One of Bruin Invite

LOS ANGELES โ Junior Alice Yanovsky was UCLA's top finisher in the women's 1-meter championship on Friday in the first day of action at the 2020 Bruin Diving Invitational.
Yanovsky posted a score of 259.45 in the prelims to secure a spot in the 18-diver final, then proceeded to log a 255.10 in the finals to end up in 13th place overall with a combined score of 514.55.
Daphne Wils of Hawai'i claimed the 1M title with a score of 601.05, the lone diver to break the 600-point barrier. Minnesota's Joy Zhu (591.60) and Stanford's Carolina Sculti (584.10) placed second and third, respectively.
All five UCLA divers competed in Friday's competition.
Junior Ruby Neave recorded the Bruins' second-best score, posting a 233.00 to finish 24th. Katie Shaheen placed 30th with a score of 218.95, followed by Hannah Butler (216.70, 32nd) and Veronica Thompson (199.60, 41st).
The Bruin Diving Invitational continues on Saturday with women's 3-meter and men's platform. Prelims begin at 10:30 a.m. at Spieker Aquatics Center.
