GAME PREVIEW
UCLA (16-1, 5-1) returns from a three-game road trip to host Washington (10-7, 2-4) at Pauley Pavilion. This is the first time the two teams have met this season.

The Huskies opened the year with eight wins in non-conference play, including a 3-0 stretch at the Puerto Rico Clasico that included victories over Iona, Howard, and Iowa. UW also won its first two Pac-12 games of the year, securing road victories at Washington State (Dec. 29) and California (Jan. 3). The Huskies enter tonight's contest riding a four-game Conference losing streak, however, most recently taking an eight-point home loss to Arizona on Sunday, Jan. 19.

Washington is led by senior guard Amber Melgoza, who is currently eighth in the Conference in scoring at 15.4 points per game. After putting up 579 points last season, she became just the seventh player in UW history to record two-consecutive 500+ point seasons. She also led the team in points, rebounds (139), and assists (90) in 2018-19, becoming just the fifth player in program history to lead the team in all three categories. The Huskies have also received a boost from sophomore forward Haley Van Dyke, who is averaging 9.2 points per game and is leading the team in rebounds (6.2) and steals (2.6) per game. Van Dyke's defensive prowess has contributed to Washington's overall defensive strength, as the Huskies lead the Pac-12 in steals per game with 11.4.

This is the 65th all-time meeting between the Bruins and Huskies, with the programs currently tied at 32 wins apiece. UCLA is riding a three-game series winning streak, including a 76-60 home victory on Sunday, Feb. 3. All five Bruin starters scored in double figures in the victory, including Lindsey Corsaro, who scored a team-high 14 points on three-for-four shooting from long range. Japreece Dean added 13 points and seven assists.

  • With Oregon State's loss to Arizona State (Jan. 12), the Bruins became the last remaining undefeated team in the nation at 16-0. This is the first time the last undefeated team in the nation has been from the Pac-12.
  • The Bruins opened the season 5-0 in Conference play for the first time since the 2012-13 season, when the team won its first six Pac-12 games.
