CLEARWATER, Fla. - The second-ranked Bruins recorded 17 runs and 25 hits on Saturday at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational, sweeping a doubleheader with a 9-1, five-inning victory over Liberty and an 8-3 win against No. 15 Georgia at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.

In game one against Liberty (1-8), UCLA (8-0) had 15 hits from 10 different players, as junior Kinsley Washington went 3-for-3 with three RBI and junior Julie Rodriguez, sophomore Kelli Godin and freshman Maya Brady added two-hit contests. Junior Holly Azevedo struck out six in five innings to move to 3-0 on the season, allowing a run, two hits and a walk in five innings. She retired the first 10 batters of the game, striking out a pair in the first, third and fifth innings.

The Bruins started off strong, as Washington hit her first home run of the season to center to lead off the bottom of the first. UCLA added four more runs in the second. With one out and freshman Seneca Curo at first after reaching on a fielder's choice, Godin got on via a bunt single and Washington singled to right to plate Curo with the Bruins' second run. With Godin advancing to third and Washington stealing second, junior Briana Perez grounded out to short to drive in Godin to make it 3-0. A single to left from redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan scored Washington to extend the lead to 4-0, while Brady added a double to left-center to bring in Jordan to make it 5-0.

Washington would make it three RBI in as many innings in the third. Junior Delanie Wisz led off with a single and was pinch-run for by junior Alana Snow. Three singles in a row by Rodriguez, Godin and Washington scored Snow to bring the lead to 6-0.

The Flames got on the board in the fourth, but the Bruins scored three times in the fifth to end things. With one out, freshman Sara Rusconi Vicinanza singled and Rodriguez launched a homer to center, her first of the season, to make it 8-1. Senior Jacqui Prober followed with a double to right, Washington walked and Perez singled up the middle to score Prober to finish off a 9-1 win.

In the nightcap against Georgia (8-2), the Bruins (9-0) had 10 hits from six players. Perez had three hits, while Jordan and freshman Alyssa Garcia both posted two hits. Sophomore Megan Faraimo moved to 5-0 on the season, striking out six in seven innings. She allowed three runs (two earned), six hits and one walk. Faraimo struck out two in the first and had 1-2-3 frames in the first and third.

For the eighth time in nine games, UCLA scored in the first inning. With one out, Perez and Jordan both singled to left. After a Brady grounder moved both runners up and a walk to graduate student Jenavee Peres loaded the bases, Wisz singled to left to bring in Perez to make it 1-0.

In the second, Curo walked, Godin reached on a bunt single and Washington walked to load the bases. Perez followed with a single up the middle to score Curo and Godin to increase the lead to 3-0. Two outs later, Peres crushed her second homer of the season to left to make it 6-0.

In the third, Washington struck out, but reached base on a wild pitch. She then stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Jordan double to right. The Bulldogs scored twice in the fourth, but UCLA got a run back in the bottom half. With one out, Garcia doubled to right-center and was pinch-run for by freshman Taylor Edwards, who came all the way around to score on a grounder that was hit in between the circle and the plate by Curo. Georgia finished out the scoring with a run in the seventh, the Bruins would prevail by five.
