CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Freshmen Emilie Paltrinieri and Emma Spitz were named WGCA All-Americans, as announced on Tuesday. Spitz was honored on the First Team, while Paltrinieri garnered Third Team accolades.
Spitz, a finalist for the ANNIKA Award as the most outstanding Division I collegiate golfer, led the Bruins in scoring average this season at 71.4, recording her first collegiate victory at the Bruin Wave Invitational, overcoming a six-shot deficit to share medalist honors. Spitz shot a final-round, 3-under 69, finishing at 5-under 211 following a pair of 1-under 71s in the first two rounds. The freshman was a combined 8-under for the season, including 6-under in opening rounds and 11-under in second rounds. Spitz placed in the Top 10 in six of her eight tournaments, posting 11 under-par rounds and six rounds in the 60s.
Paltrinieri posted a scoring average of 72.4, recording three Top 10s and five Top 20s in six events. She was third at the Bruin Wave (-2, 214), fourth at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (-4, 209) and tied for 10th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Of her four under-par rounds, three were in the 60s, including a season-best, 4-under 67 at the NGRC. Paltrinieri had a combined score of 1-under in her final rounds.
