No. 15 UCLA Heads to No. 1 South Carolina for Midweek Showdown

LOS ANGELES – UCLA Women's Basketball (7-0) flies out to Columbia, S.C., to take on undefeated South Carolina (6-0) on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST. Tuesday's matchup will be the third meeting in program history, with South Carolina holding a 2-0 advantage in the series.
UCLA will be the Gamecocks' second Pac-12 opponent this season, the last being No. 2/2 Stanford on Sunday, Nov. 20. South Carolina bested the Cardinal 76-71 in overtime.

The Bruins downed the Jackson State Tigers 72-60 behind a late-game dagger from freshman Londynn Jones, who finished the contest with 16 points. Charisma Osborne put in 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting (2-for-6 3FG) to lead the team in scoring for the fifth time this season. Jackson State made a late run to bring the game within four points (Q4, 3:50) before Osborne and the freshman lefty nailed their three-point attempts to push UCLA's lead to 10 (Q4, 1:40). Osborne and Gina Conti knocked down free throws in the final minute to seal the victory for the Bruins.

• With 7-consecutive wins, the UCLA Bruins are off to their hottest start since the 2019-20 season when they won 16 games in a row.
• The Bruins last faced the No. 1 team in the nation on Dec. 21, 2020 when they fell to Stanford 49-61 at home.
• Charisma Osborne has scored a conference-high 141 points so far, averaging 20.1 ppg (2nd in the Pac-12).
• Kiki Rice has started all seven games of her first collegiate season, averaging 29.1 minutes per game, and is immediately impacting the game. The freshman floor general leads the team in assists with 4.0 apg (T-7th in Pac-12), which ranks 10th in the nation among first-year players.
• Londynn Jones reached double-digit scoring for the first time in her career with an 11-point outing against Troy on Nov. 13. Jones shot 3-for-3 against the Lady Vols for 9 points on Nov. 20, and scored 16 points against Jackson State (Nov. 25) to help secure the win.
• Lina Sontag had a big game off the bench against No. 11/12 Tennessee, scoring 12 points (5-for-12 FG, 2-for-4 3FG) and pulling down 7 rebounds before fouling out in 18.5 minutes of play. Sontag earned a starting spot against Jackson State on Nov. 25. The German had 9 points and a team-high 8 rebounds against the Tigers.

• The Bruins jumped up five spots to No. 15 in the Week 4 Associated Press (AP) Poll.
• After beginning the season unranked for the first time since the 2015-16 season, the Bruins found their way back into both the (No. 20, Week 3 - Nov. 21, 2022) and the USA Today Coaches Poll (No. 21, Week 3 - Nov. 22, 2022) to start the third week of the 2022-23 season.

The Bruins will host 16 home games throughout the season, play 11 games on the road, and participate in three contests at a neutral site (the team played in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in The Bahamas in mid-November).
