Bruins, Campos Clubhouse Leaders After Day One
October 20, 2023 | Women's Golf
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 7 UCLA women's golf team is in first place with a five-shot lead (-10, 274) after round one of the Stanford Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course on Friday.
Junior Zoe Antoinette Campos shot a career-low 6-under 65 and enters round two tomorrow as the clubhouse leader. Joining Campos in the top 10 is Tiffany Le (t-3rd, -3) and Meghan Royal (t-10th, -1). Campos birdied six holes on the back nine.
"The team played steady today from tee to green," said head coach Alicia Um Holmes. "I'm really pleased with how they managed their games and scrambled when they needed to save pars. Zoe had an awesome back nine and Tiffany birdied holes 5-7 which is typically a tough stretch of holes."
Currently in second place is No. 11 USC at 5-under, 279. The Bruins and Trojans are one of three teams under par after round one.
UCLA began the tournament on hole 10.
Royal birdied back-to-back holes on the par-5 7th and par-3 8th to get to under par on the day.
The Bruins' fourth counting score on day one came from Calabasas, Calif. native Caroline Canales who posted an even-par 71. She is tied for 26th.
UCLA tees off for round two on hole one beginning 12:40 p.m. Follow along at this live scoring link.
