Taking on the Pac
Last week's result against San Diego State meant that UCLA wrapped up the first half of its league schedule with an unbeaten record at 3-0-2. The Bruins are the only team without a loss in Pac-12 play this year. In addition, it's the first time UCLA has won its first five league games since 2011, when the Bruins went 10-0-0 en route to the league title. The Bruins are unbeaten in six straight league games dating back to last year, the program's longest streak since the national runner-up 2014 squad. UCLA (11 pts) enters the week second in the Pac-12 table, but has two games in hand compared to league-leading OSU (12 points).

Last Week in Review
UCLA scored a pair of second-half goals to log a 2-1 comeback win over San Diego State last Friday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. Tommy Silva notched the primary assist on both Bruin scores, setting up teammates Andre Ochoa and Pietro Grassi on set pieces. Ochoa rifled in a shot from the top of the 18 off a free kick to equalize in the 47th minute, and Grassi headed home an inswinging corner kick for the game-winner in the 55th.

Grassi Named to College Soccer News Team of the Week
UCLA junior center back Pietro Grassi was named to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal for UCLA and playing the full 90 in a 2-1 home win over San Diego State. It was the first-career weekly honor for Grassi, who was an all-region choice as a freshman and a Preseason All-American as a sophomore in 2022.

All-Time Series Against Oregon State
UCLA owns a 36-11-4 record all-time against Oregon State. The Bruins have had the better of the head-to-head series in Westwood, going 7-2-1 in their last 10 home games against the Beavers. The Bruins have won two of the last three, and seven of the last nine, head-to-head matchups at UCLA. However, UCLA is seeking its first season-series win over OSU since 2017. Active Bruins with strong career numbers against OSU include Jack Sarkos (3 pts in 1 GP), Tommy Silva (3 A in 6 GP), Jose Contell (1 G, 1 A in 4 GP), and Ryan Becher (1 G in 1 GP).

Last Time Out Against OSU
Jack Sarkos and Ryan Becher scored in quick succession midway through the second half to rescue the Bruins from a two-goal hole and force a 2-2 draw in Corvallis on Oct. 5 of this season. UCLA found itself behind almost immediately as OSU scored 37 seconds in and made it 2-0 with an early second-half goal. Sarkos got the Bruins back within one with a blast from the right side of the box after an OSU defensive miscue left him all alone with the keeper. Becher popped in a rebound off a corner kick to equalize in the 61st minute. UCLA matched a season high with 19 shots.

Last Time Out Against Washington
The Bruins scored three goals late in the second half to pull away and record a 4-2 win at Husky Soccer Stadium on Oct. 8. The result snapped a nine-game losing streak for UCLA against Washington. Cam Wilkerson and Sebastian Rincon led the way with three-point games, with both logging a goal and an assist. UCLA scored three unanswered goals in a 12-minute span starting in the 70th minute to put the game away. Washington had a PK stopped in the 79th minute, and scored in the final minute of regulation to get within two.

All-Time Series Against Washington
UCLA owns a 31-24-4 record all-time against Washington. The Bruins' win in Seattle earlier this year snapped a skid in the head-to-head series, as the Huskies had won nine consecutive games prior, dating to 2018. UCLA is seeking its first home win over UW since 2018, and its first season-series win since 2015. Current Bruins with strong career numbers against the Huskies include Jose Contell (1 G, 1 A in 5 GP), Tucker Lepley (2 G in 4 GP), Sebastian Rincon (3 pts in 1 GP), and Cam Wilkerson (3 pts in 3 GP)

Take Your Shot
The Bruins have tallied double-digit shots in each of their first 12 games to start the season, including a season-high 19 shot attempts on two occasions. This is UCLA's longest streak of 10+ shot games since 2016, when the Bruins closed out the season with 14 consecutive double-digit-shot efforts. The Bruins enter the week with the No. 15 shot rate in the country (15.42 per game) as well as the No. 4 shots on goal rate (7.3 per game). UCLA is 5-0-1 this when taking at least 17 shots in a game.

Offensive Breakout
The Bruins have broken out for four goals in three of the last nine games, and four times overall this season in just 12 games. This year marks the first time since 2016 that a Bruin squad has potted 4+ goals twice in a three-game span. It also marks the first time since 2016 that UCLA has had a quartet of four-goal games in a single season (the 2016 squad had five such performances). For the season, UCLA is averaging 2.2 goals per game, ranking 14th in the NCAA.
