Paige MacEachern Earns All-American Honors at NCAA Championships

ATHENS, Ga. โ Lauren Hallaselka, Paige MacEachern, and Rosie Murphy all finished in the top 10 in their events for the Bruins on Friday afternoon on the third day of the 2024 NCAA Championships.
MacEachern and Murphy both took part in the finals session of the 400 IM. MacEachern, who holds the school record in the event, took part in the 'A' final and finished eighth overall in 4:08.95, earning All-American honors in the process. Murphy finished strongly in the 'B' final of the event, taking 10th place, in 4:05.01.
The divers also had a strong showing on Friday afternoon. Both Hallaselka and Savana Trueb earned spots in the consolation final after strong displays in the preliminary round. As for finals Hallaselka earned a final score of 315.30, highlighted by a dive score of 65.10 in her second round and 63.00 in the third round. Trueb also did ell in finals, and took 16th place in the discipline with a finals score of 247.80.
To kick off the day, MacEachern and Murphy both qualified for finals in the 400 IM. MacEachern took seventh to advance to the 'A' final while Murphy placed ninth to move on to the 'B' final. With both swimmers moving on to finals it marked the first time since 2011 that two Bruins moved on to finals in the same event.
Later in the morning session, two more Bruins earned spots in the 'B' final of the 3m dive competition. Lauren Hallaselka and Savana Trueb finished 10th and 13th with scores of 300.50 and 297.30, respectively, to advance to the 'B' final in the event. Zoe Jespersgaard also took part for the Bruins, finishing 35th with a score of 258.20.
Eva Carlson also represented the Bruins during the prelims session and finished 40th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.31.
The Bruins will return to action on Saturday in the 200 back, 200 breast, 200 fly, and platform dive competitions.
Day Two Recap
UCLA had a pair of top-25 individual finishes on the second day of the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Rosie Murphy and junior Paige MacEachern were the first Bruins to hit the pool on Thursday, taking part in the 200 IM on Thursday morning. Murphy took 22nd place with a time of 1:56.32, while MacEachern finished 47th in 1:58.16.
Other Bruins in action on Thursday were Lauren Hallaselka and Zoe Jespersgaard in the 1-meter dive competition. Hallaselka, who won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at the Zone E Diving Championships, finished 25th in the 1-meter dive on Thursday afternoon with a score of 260.10. Jespersgaard also took part for the Bruins, finishing 51st with a score of 188.60.
Competition at NCAAs continues on Friday with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter diving, and 400 medley relay. Prelims start at 7:00 a.m. PT, followed by finals at 3:00 p.m. PT. The Bruins will have competitors in the 400 IM, 100 breast and 3-meter dive.
