March 26, 2024 | Swimming & Diving

LOS ANGELES โ€“ Five members of the UCLA swimming and diving team have received All-America honors, it was announced by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Tuesday.

The Bruins' honorees include sophomore Eden Cheng, freshman Lauren Hallaselkä, junior Paige MacEachern, sophomore Rosie Murphy, and graduate student Savana Trueb.

All five Bruins earned individual honors. MacEachern earned first team All-America honors after finishing eighth overall at the NCAA Championships in the 400 individual medley, while Cheng (platform diving), Hallaselkä (3-meter dive), Murphy (400 IM), and Trueb (3-meter, platform diving) were all named second team All-Americans.

MacEachern also becomes the first Bruins swimmer to earn first-team All-American honors since Ting Wen Quah did so in the 100 butterfly back in 2013.

UCLA's six All-Americans tie the 2023 squad for most honorees since 2017.

The awards were determined by a nationwide vote of CSCAA-member Division I head swimming coaches and head diving coaches. All-Americans are selected on the basis of their finish at the NCAA Championships and a team's current membership with the CSCAA. Only student-athletes who competed in their championship finals are eligible for All-America Honors. NCAA relays & individuals must score in the top 8 to earn first-team honors while those who finish ninth through sixteenth earn second-team honors.
