June 13, 2024 | Women's Volleyball
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Middle blockers Desiree Becker and Anna Dodson were two of 19 student-athletes across the country to be named to the 2024 USA Women's Volleyball Collegiate National Team (CNT) Wednesday afternoon.
The Women's Collegiate National Team will train June 30-July 6 in Anaheim, Calif., alongside the U.S. Olympic Women's Volleyball Team. The Olympic team is led by UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer and USA Head Coach Karch Kiraly and current UCLA Women's Volleyball Head Coach Alfee Reft, who is fulfilling is role as an assistant.
Becker and Dodson make up 2/5 of the middle blocker position group on this year's Women's Collegiate National Team. This marks the second straight year Dodson has been named to the CNT roster. Dodson is returning for a fifth season in 2024 while Becker is graduating from UCLA with a master's degree in legal studies in hopes of becoming an entertainment lawyer.
Becker, a graduate transfer from Northwestern in the 2023 offseason, impressed USA coaches in her trials over Winter and Spring 2024. This marks Becker's first time being selected to the Women's Collegiate National Team in her five-year collegiate career.
The DeWitt, Mich. native was one of UCLA's most steady and elite competitors in the 2023 season. Becker played in all 30 matches, including 27 starts, and was one of just two Bruins to play in all 118 sets in her single season as a Bruin. She led UCLA and ranked fifth in the Pac-12 with 136 total blocks. Her 1.15 blocks per set were good for second most on the team behind her counterpart Dodson. Becker totaled 167 kills (1.42 KPS) for a .335 hitting percentage.
Dodson received the first AVCA All-American recognition of her career in 2023, being named honorable mention. She was also named to the All-Pac-12 Team for the third time in her career. Dodson recorded 322.0 points (3.04 PPS) off 233 kills and 131 blocks (1.24 BPS). She led UCLA and ranked fifth in the Pac-12 with a .364 hitting percentage.
