Bruins Wrap Up at Crossroads of America Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. โ€“ The UCLA track & field team completed its time at the Crossroads of America Invitational on Saturday, finishing the two-day meet with a number of notable performances.

In all, UCLA totaled three event wins, 10 podium finishes, and six new entries in the program's all-time indoor top-10 lists.

The Bruins' top result came in the men's long jump, as Camryn O'Bannon and Allan Hunter finished 1-2 while both notching PRs and all-time top-10 marks. O'Bannon (7.71m / 25-03.50) won the event and tied UCLA's No. 3 mark all-time, while Hunter (7.55m / 24-09.25) grabbed the No. 6 mark all-time.

Asha Fletcher (triple jump) and Gabriel Clement II (400m) also collected event wins for the Bruins and made their way into their respective top-10s.

Fletcher hit a PR of 12.99m (42-07.50) in the triple jump, moving into the No. 4 place in program history. Clement meanwhile ran a 46.72 to move into No. 6 place in the program annals.

Elsewhere, Taylor Snaer debuted at No. 3 on the program's indoor top-10 list for the 200m, running that race in 23.39 to take second place.

The Bruins closed the meet with a strong performance in the 4x400 relays, claiming second place on both the men's and women's sides. The women's quartet of Kayla McBride, Naomi Johnson, Snaer, and Aly Conyers combined for a time of 3:35.74, which was good for No. 8 in indoor program history. The men (Clement, Koju Manu, Tamaal Myers, Parker Raymond) finished the race in the 3:11.52.

TRACK EVENT RESULTS

A Bruin finished runner-up on both sides of the 60m hurdles. UCLA made up nearly half the field in the women's final, with Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck (8.24, second) finishing first among the three Bruins to qualify. Bella Witt (8.34) and Celeste Polzonetti (8.44) came in fourth and sixth, respectively. Di'Niko Bates (8.00) was the runner-up on the men's side, while Davis Davis-Lyric (8.13, fifth) wasn't far behind.

Elijah Major was UCLA's top performer in the 60m dash, clocking in at 6.80 in the finals to take third. Ndjip-Nyemeck (7.57) came in fifth during Friday's prelims.

UCLA had a top-five finisher on both sides of the 600m, as Myers (1:22.25) took fourth in the men's race while Sonia Virk (1:33.95) finished fifth on the women's side.

The UCLA women preceded Clement's event win with a strong collective performance in the women's 400m, placing three of the top-nine finishers. Aly Conyers (54.49) crossed the line first among the Bruins, taking fifth place.

FIELD EVENT RESULTS

Valentina Fakrogha was the Bruins' top performer in the women's high jump, hitting a PR at 1.77m (5-09.75) to take second place.

UCLA had the seventh-place finisher in both pole vaults, with Katarina Adamiec (4.09m / 13-05.00) and Hunter O'Brien (5.04m / 16-06.50) leading the Bruins.

Michael Pinckney led the Bruins in both the men's weight throw and shot put. He was able to earn a runner-up result in the former with a mark of 20.63m (67-08.25), and also advanced to finals in the latter, ultimately placing ninth at 17.32m (56-10.00).

Lyvante Su'emai also reached the finals in the women's shot put, placing eighth at 14.49m (47-06.50).

UP NEXT
UCLA is back in action next weekend at the Washington Invite in Seattle. The squad's distance runners and pole vaulters are slated to compete.
