UCLA will be facing Ohio State for the second time this season. The two teams met in Week 2 at the Sprouts Collegiate Quad in Oklahoma City, which the Bruins won with a scores of 197.550. Ohio State was edged out for second place by Kentucky, 196.500-196.475. The Buckeyes rank No. 22 overall and No. 12 on vault and No. 17 on floor and are led by 2024 Big Ten beam champion and all-around runner-up Tory Vetter. Nebraska ranks No. 21 overall, No. 16 on beam and No. 19 on beam and floor. The Huskers are led by two-time Canadian Olympic alternate Emma Spence, who ranks No. 21 nationally in the all-around and No. 15 on bars. This will be UCLA's first matchup with Nebraska since the 2019 season opener, which the Bruins won, 197.250-195.700. The Bruins will be competing against Rutgers for the first time since 1999. UCLA remained unbeaten in the Big Ten after a 197.550-196.850 win at Michigan on Feb. 23. The Bruins used strong scores on floor exercise and balance beam in the last two rotations to take the victory in front of a crowd of over 11,000 at the Crisler Center. UCLA grabbed a slim .025 lead after the first rotation, scoring 49.325 on uneven bars. Emma Malabuyo led the way with a career-high 9.925, and Frida Esparza saved the Bruins from counting a fall when she improvised after overdoing a handstand, staying on the bar and keeping her score to 9.800. Michigan moved ahead of UCLA after rotation two, scoring 49.350 on bars to the Bruins' 49.250 on vault. In Big Ten play alone, the Bruins' road attendance average is 8,549, with a school-record 7,287 in attendance at Maryland, the second-largest crowd in Washington history (7,046), and 11,314 at Michigan last week. CHILES REALLY IS THAT GIRL ย
Less than two weeks after being featured in Nike's Super Bowl commercial, Olympic gold medalist and two-time Olympian Jordan Chiles was honored by Time Magazine as one of its 2025 Women of the Year. Chiles has seamlessly made the transition from Olympic medalist to UCLA Bruin (again). Chiles made her much-anticipated return to UCLA after a one-year absence to train for and ultimately win gold and bronze at the 2024 Olympics. She rejoined the Bruin team on Dec. 14 after the fall quarter ended and has competed in at least three events in every meet, even with limited training time prior to the season. The four-time Big Ten Gymnast of the Week has three all-around victories in five meets and scored a season-best 39.600 Feb. 14 to win the meet against Penn State. She scored her first perfect 10 of the year at Maryland on Jan. 18, receiving a perfect mark on uneven bars, and she added another 10 on Feb. 1, this time on floor exercise to clinch a UCLA comeback victory on the final event. That walk-off 10 was Chiles' fifth floor 10 of her career and 10th 10 overall, ranking her No. 5 all-time at UCLA with 10 career 10s. She is also No. 3 on bars and floor with five 10s on each event. Only Kyla Ross (11) and Jamie Dantzscher (7) have scored more 10s on bars, and only Dantzscher (17) and Katelyn Ohashi (9) have more than Chiles on floor. During Chiles' last NCAA season in 2023, she captured the NCAA uneven bars and floor exercise titles and helped lead UCLA to a fifth-place NCAA finish and Pac-12 regular season co-championship.ย

2020 Canadian Olympian Brooklyn Moors has been ranked in the Top 5 on floor exercise all season, including a two-week stint at No. 1. She is currently third with a NQS of 9.955 and holds the highest season average in the nation with a 9.944. Moors has not scored lower than 9.900 this year and has six scores of 9.950 or higher, with a pair of career-highs of 9.975, most recently on Feb. 23 at Michigan. Senior Emma Malabuyo has solidified her status as one of the best beam workers in the NCAA, ranking No. 5 in the nation with an NQS of 9.920 and a season average of 9.912. She has scored 9.900 or higher in seven of eight meets this season, with a high of 9.975, and has earned Top 2 finishes in seven meets, including a team-best five wins. The 2024 Philippines Olympian and two-time All-American averages 9.865 on beam in her career and has 11 scores of 9.950 or better, including one 10.0 and five 9.975s. She has also been strong on floor exercise, ranking No. 23 nationally with a NQS of 9.895. Malabuyo averages 9.843 on floor over her career, with a career-high of 9.950 and season-best of 9.925, which she achieved against Illinois in a second-place showing. ESPARZA'S ELECTRIC NIGHT ย ย
Graduate student Frida Esparza had an electric night on Feb. 14, starting the day by playing the national anthem on electric guitar and then ending it by tying for first place on uneven bars with a career-high 9.975, earning a perfect 10 from one of the two judges for the first time in her career. Esparza has been lights out for UCLA on bars this season and ranks No. 6 in the nation with a NQS of 9.891 and a season average of 9.904. She leads the team with four uneven bars victories and six Top 3 finishes. ย ย ย ย ย ย
FOLLOW THE LEE-DER ย ย
In her usual No. 1 spot on balance beam, leadoff legend Emily Lee sets the tone for the No. 3 beam squad in the nation. The Bruins are averaging 49.341 on beam and have earned 49.4 or higher five times this year, including four times on the road. Lee started each of those five rotations with scores of 9.900 or higher, including a season-high and meet-winning 9.925 on Feb. 14. Her 9.900 at Washington was the first of six 9.9+ scores on beam, marking the first time since 2016 that a UCLA team had all six competitors score 9.9 or higher on beam. UCLA scored a season-best 49.625 in that meet, the No. 6 mark in school history. In her career as a leadoff performer on beam, Lee is averaging 9.851 and has scored 9.900 or higher 57% of the time (20 times in 35 meets). Her leadoff prowess is not confined to beam. As the vault leadoff this year, she is averaging 9.814 with a high of 9.900, and in three floor leadoff performances, she is averaging 9.858. Graduate student Chae Campbell has competed in the all-around in six meets, averaging 39.442. She ranks No. 15 in the nation with a 39.405 NQS, and her season average is 10th-highest amongst ranked all-arounders. Campbell has finished in the Top 3 in the all-around in each meet and has two victories, winning against Illinois on Jan. 25 with a 39.400 and posting what was then the Big Ten's top all-around mark on Feb. 7 with a 39.625 at Washington. Campbell won Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week honors that week, the second conference gymnast of the week honor of her career. Campbell ranks 20th in the nation on vault with a NQS of 9.875. She averages 9.875 on her 9.950 start-value vault and posted highs of 9.925 twice this year. She is now ranked No. 19 on balance beam with a NQS of 9.880. Beam has become a strong suit for Campbell this season, as she is averaging 9.828 with three scores of 9.900 or higher. She tied her career-high on Feb. 7 at Washington, scoring 9.925. On floor, Campbell averages 9.896 on the year, with a high of 9.975 set Feb. 1 against Michigan State. Junior Ciena Alipio has become a mainstay in the Top 20 rankings the last two weeks. FABULOUS FRESHMEN ย ย
Macy McGowan and Mika Webster-Longin have been integral competitors on the Bruin squad all season. McGowan has hit all 24 of her routines this season and averages over 9.8 on each of her three events, including 9.866 on floor and 9.841 on bars. She has not scored under 9.750 on any event this season and is tied for third on the team in routines competed in 2025. McGowan has career-best marks of 9.900 on vault, 9.875 on bars and 9.950 on floor and has compiled four scores of 9.900 or higher this year, including three on floor. Webster-Longin has also competed in every meet for UCLA and had a breakthrough performance Feb. 14 against Penn State, capturing her first event win with a career-high 9.850 on vault, earning a career-best 9.900 to lead off on floor, and scoring 9.825 on bars. She came back the next meet at Michigan to score a career-high 9.925 on vault to place third. Webster-Longin has totaled five Top 3 finishes this season. BARROS IS BACK ย
Sophomore Sydney Barros is back in action for her first year of competition in collegiate gymnastics. The 2023 Puerto Rican all-around national champion and World Championships qualifier missed the 2024 NCAA season after tearing her ACL at the 2023 Central American Games and made her Bruin competitive debut at the American Gold Classic, scoring 9.550 on uneven bars, and has performed exhibitions in four meets, scoring highs of 9.800 on floor and 9.825 on bars. Barros is a former three-time U.S. National Team member and bronze medalist at the 2019 Junior World Championships. ย ย
SUPER SENIORS
The Bruins return the services of two fifth-year seniors in Chae Campbell and Frida Esparza for their extra year of Covid-19 eligibility. Campbell is an eight-time All-American, three-time perfect 10 scorer on floor exercise and the 2021 Pac-12 floor co-champion and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Esparza earned all-conference honors on uneven bars as a freshman and owns career-highs of 9.975 on bars and 9.900 on balance beam. Campbell currently ranks No. 15 in the nation in the all-around and has captured two all-around wins, including a win Feb. 7 at Washington with a then-Big Ten-best 39.625. Esparza has four event victories on uneven bars and scored career-highs in back-to-back meets with a 9.950 on Feb. 7 and 9.975 on Feb. 14. She ranks sixth in the nation and first in the Big Ten with a NQS of 9.910.

UCLA welcomes a five-member freshman class in 2025, led by three-time Level 10 National champions Macy McGowan and Mika Webster-Longin. McGowan won the all-around, vault and floor at both the 2024 Nationals and Region 1 Championships. Webster-Longin was the 2023 all-around, bars and floor Level 10 national champion. She spent her 2024 competing elite with the Belgian National Team, seeing action at the DtB Pokal Competition in Germany and at the European Championships in Italy. Sasha Fujisaka brings in four years of experience at Level 10 Nationals, as well as a perfect 10 score on uneven bars and four Region 1 titles, but will be sitting out this season due to injury. Bronwyn Hoffman is a two-time Level 10 Nationals competitor and 2023 Region 1 all-around medalist. Riley Jenkins is coming off a strong 2024 season, placing second in the all-around at the 2024 Level 10 All-Stars, second on vault and floor at the Region 1 Championships and winning the state all-around, vault and floor titles. ย ย ย ย ย
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR ย ย
The Bruin roster is filled with gymnasts who have represented their countries in international competition. Emma Malabuyo represented the Philippines at the 2024 Olympics and was the 2024 Asian Championships floor exercise champion and all-around bronze medalist and 2023 Asian Championships floor bronze medalist. Brooklyn Moors competed at the 2020 Olympics for Canada and was an all-around and floor finalist at three World Championships. Frida Esparza competed for Mexico at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. Sydney Barros qualified for the 2023 World Championships for Puerto Rico and was previously a three-time U.S. National Team member. Freshman Mika Webster-Longin competed with Belgium at the 2024 European Championships. Other U.S. National Team competitors were Ciena Alipio, Emily Lee and Katelyn Rosen.ย

UCLA 2026 signees Nola Matthews and Jordis Eichman impressed in their 2025 season debuts at the Winter Cup Feb. 22. Matthews won gold on floor exercise and was fifth in the all-around and sixth on beam. Eichman placed ninth on bars and 16th in the all-around. ย ย ย

ESPARZA'S ELECTRIC NIGHT ย ย
Graduate student Frida Esparza had an electric night on Feb. 14, starting the day by playing the national anthem on electric guitar and then ending it by tying for first place on uneven bars with a career-high 9.975, earning a perfect 10 from one of the two judges for the first time in her career. Esparza has been lights out for UCLA on bars this season and ranks No. 6 in the nation with a NQS of 9.891 and a season average of 9.904. She leads the team with four uneven bars victories and six Top 3 finishes. ย ย ย ย ย ย
FOLLOW THE LEE-DER ย ย
In her usual No. 1 spot on balance beam, leadoff legend Emily Lee sets the tone for the No. 3 beam squad in the nation. The Bruins are averaging 49.341 on beam and have earned 49.4 or higher five times this year, including four times on the road. Lee started each of those five rotations with scores of 9.900 or higher, including a season-high and meet-winning 9.925 on Feb. 14. Her 9.900 at Washington was the first of six 9.9+ scores on beam, marking the first time since 2016 that a UCLA team had all six competitors score 9.9 or higher on beam. UCLA scored a season-best 49.625 in that meet, the No. 6 mark in school history. In her career as a leadoff performer on beam, Lee is averaging 9.851 and has scored 9.900 or higher 57% of the time (20 times in 35 meets). Her leadoff prowess is not confined to beam. As the vault leadoff this year, she is averaging 9.814 with a high of 9.900, and in three floor leadoff performances, she is averaging 9.858. She made her floor season debut against Michigan State on Feb. 1, scoring 9.875 to help the Bruins post a national-best 49.800 floor mark. A queen of consistency, Lee has hit all 97 of her routines in her career without a fall, with her only sub-9.6 score coming due to a start value deficiency. ย ย ย
ALL-AROUND EXCELLENCE ย ย
Graduate student Chae Campbell has competed in the all-around in six meets, averaging 39.442. She ranks No. 15 in the nation with a 39.405 NQS, and her season average is 10th-highest amongst ranked all-arounders. Campbell has finished in the Top 3 in the all-around in each meet and has two victories, winning against Illinois on Jan. 25 with a 39.400 and posting what was then the Big Ten's top all-around mark on Feb. 7 with a 39.625 at Washington. Campbell won Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week honors that week, the second conference gymnast of the week honor of her career. Campbell ranks 20th in the nation on vault with a NQS of 9.875. She averages 9.875 on her 9.950 start-value vault and posted highs of 9.925 twice this year. She is now ranked No. 19 on balance beam with a NQS of 9.880. Beam has become a strong suit for Campbell this season, as she is averaging 9.828 with three scores of 9.900 or higher. She tied her career-high on Feb. 7 at Washington, scoring 9.925. On floor, Campbell averages 9.896 on the year, with a high of 9.975 set Feb. 1 against Michigan State. She has scored season-highs of 9.875 on uneven bars in each of her last two meets in the leadoff position.
C-ING THE TOP 20 ย ย ย
Junior Ciena Alipio has become a mainstay in the Top 20 rankings the last two weeks. Currently ranked 19th, Alipio holds a NQS of 9.880 and has scored 9.850 or better in six meets this season, She recorded a career-high mark of 9.950 on Feb. 7 at Washington with a first-place mark to help the Bruins earn a season-best team score of ย 49.625, the No. 6 mark in school history. ย ย ย ย ย ย
FABULOUS FRESHMEN ย ย
Macy McGowan and Mika Webster-Longin have been integral competitors on the Bruin squad all season. McGowan has hit all 24 of her routines this season and averages over 9.8 on each of her three events, including 9.866 on floor and 9.841 on bars. She has not scored under 9.750 on any event this season and is tied for third on the team in routines competed in 2025. McGowan has career-best marks of 9.900 on vault, 9.875 on bars and 9.950 on floor and has compiled four scores of 9.900 or higher this year, including three on floor. Webster-Longin has also competed in every meet for UCLA and had a breakthrough performance Feb. 14 against Penn State, capturing her first event win with a career-high 9.850 on vault, earning a career-best 9.900 to lead off on floor, and scoring 9.825 on bars. She came back the next meet at Michigan to score a career-high 9.925 on vault to place third. Webster-Longin has totaled five Top 3 finishes this season. Additionally, Riley Jenkins has competed three times on vault this season after missing the first month due to a preseason injury and has scored a high of 9.850 on her Yurchenko 1.5 vault. ย ย ย ย ย ย
BARROS IS BACK ย
Sophomore Sydney Barros is back in action for her first year of competition in collegiate gymnastics. The 2023 Puerto Rican all-around national champion and World Championships qualifier missed the 2024 NCAA season after tearing her ACL at the 2023 Central American Games and made her Bruin competitive debut at the American Gold Classic, scoring 9.550 on uneven bars, and has performed exhibitions in four meets, scoring highs of 9.800 on floor and 9.825 on bars. Barros is a former three-time U.S. National Team member and bronze medalist at the 2019 Junior World Championships. ย ย
SUPER SENIORS
The Bruins return the services of two fifth-year seniors in Chae Campbell and Frida Esparza for their extra year of Covid-19 eligibility. Campbell is an eight-time All-American, three-time perfect 10 scorer on floor exercise and the 2021 Pac-12 floor co-champion and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Esparza earned all-conference honors on uneven bars as a freshman and owns career-highs of 9.975 on bars and 9.900 on balance beam. Campbell currently ranks No. 15 in the nation in the all-around and has captured two all-around wins, including a win Feb. 7 at Washington with a then-Big Ten-best 39.625. Esparza has four event victories on uneven bars and scored career-highs in back-to-back meets with a 9.950 on Feb. 7 and 9.975 on Feb. 14. She ranks sixth in the nation and first in the Big Ten with a NQS of 9.910.
BABY BRUINSย
UCLA welcomes a five-member freshman class in 2025, led by three-time Level 10 National champions Macy McGowan and Mika Webster-Longin. McGowan won the all-around, vault and floor at both the 2024 Nationals and Region 1 Championships. Webster-Longin was the 2023 all-around, bars and floor Level 10 national champion. She spent her 2024 competing elite with the Belgian National Team, seeing action at the DtB Pokal Competition in Germany and at the European Championships in Italy. Sasha Fujisaka brings in four years of experience at Level 10 Nationals, as well as a perfect 10 score on uneven bars and four Region 1 titles, but will be sitting out this season due to injury. Bronwyn Hoffman is a two-time Level 10 Nationals competitor and 2023 Region 1 all-around medalist. Riley Jenkins is coming off a strong 2024 season, placing second in the all-around at the 2024 Level 10 All-Stars, second on vault and floor at the Region 1 Championships and winning the state all-around, vault and floor titles. ย ย ย ย ย
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR ย ย
The Bruin roster is filled with gymnasts who have represented their countries in international competition. Emma Malabuyo represented the Philippines at the 2024 Olympics and was the 2024 Asian Championships floor exercise champion and all-around bronze medalist and 2023 Asian Championships floor bronze medalist. Brooklyn Moors competed at the 2020 Olympics for Canada and was an all-around and floor finalist at three World Championships. Frida Esparza competed for Mexico at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. Sydney Barros qualified for the 2023 World Championships for Puerto Rico and was previously a three-time U.S. National Team member. Freshman Mika Webster-Longin competed with Belgium at the 2024 European Championships. Other U.S. National Team competitors were Ciena Alipio, Emily Lee and Katelyn Rosen.ย

UCLA has four graduate students on the 2025 roster. Chae Campbell and Carissa Clay are enrolled in UCLA's Transformative Coaching and Leadership program in the School of Education. Frida Esparza is pursuing a postgraduate certificate in marketing, and Brooklyn Moors is pursuing a postgraduate certificate in project management. ย ย
FUTURE BRUINS EXCEL IN WINTER CUP
UCLA 2026 signees Nola Matthews and Jordis Eichman impressed in their 2025 season debuts at the Winter Cup Feb. 22. Matthews won gold on floor exercise and was fifth in the all-around and sixth on beam. Eichman placed ninth on bars and 16th in the all-around. ย ย ย
