LAST TIME OUT
UCLA's nine-meet winning streak came to an end on Saturday night as the No. 4 Bruins fell to No. 5 Utah, 198.100-197.425 in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,558 at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. UCLA did, however, extend its streak of 197+ team scores to 10 consecutive meets, thanks in part to 9.950s from Frida Esparza on bars, Brooklyn Moors on floor and Chae Campbell on beam. The Bruins started out with a strong 49.425 on uneven bars in the first rotation, matching the Utes' 49.425 on vault. UCLA's final three each scored 9.900 or higher, with Macy McGowan scoring a career-high 9.900, Jordan Chiles a 9.925 and Esparza a 9.950. But Utah separated itself in rotation two, scoring 49.525 on bars to UCLA's 49.175 on vault. Utah's 49.600 on beam in the third rotation increased the lead to 0.575, and even four scores of 9.900 or higher on beam were not enough for the Bruins to catch up. ย ย ย
CAMPBELL, ESPARZA WIN BIG TEN WEEKLY HONORS
UCLA graduate students Chae Campbell and Frida Esparza were selected the Big Ten Gymnast and Co-Event Specialist of the Week, respectively. Campbell scored 39.525 in the all-around at Utah, the highest all-around score in the conference that week and her second-highest all-around total of the year. She jumped up to No. 8 in the national rankings and No. 2 in the conference rankings with a NQS of 9.930, and her season average of 9.880 tops the Bruins. The awards are the second this season for each gymnast and the 11th and 12th overall for UCLA in its inaugural season in the Big Ten. ย ย ย ย ย
THREE WEEKS, THREE FLOORS ย
Chae Campbell has produced legendary floor exercise routines year after year at UCLA, and in the past two weeks, she has reprised two of those routines. Her 2025 Missy Elliott routine has netted her a season-high mark of 9.975 this season, but she brought back her freshman year floor routine on Senior Day March 9, performing that routine in front of a full house for the first time. Campbell originally debuted the routine in 2021 during the COVID pandemic when spectators were either not allowed in competitions or limited in small numbers and won the Pac-12 floor title with that routine. She brought back another fan favorite last week at Utah, performing her 2024 Black Panther routine while competing in UCLA's new Black Panther-inspired leotard that she designed. ย ย ย ย
BEST SHOW IN LA ... AND AROUND THE COUNTRY ย
UCLA has been competing in front of big crowds all over the country this season. On March 9, the Bruins set a new home attendance record, attracting 12,918 fans for their home finale against Stanford. The Bruins averaged 9,185 fans at home meet this season, the second-largest average in school history. UCLA has been a big draw on the road as well. In Big Ten play, the Bruins' road attendance average is 7,336, with a school-record 7,287 in attendance at Maryland, the second-largest crowd in Washington history (7,046), 11,314 at Michigan, and a program record crowd of 3,695 at Ohio State. UCLA also competed in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,558 at Utah on March 15. ย
CONSISTENCY IS KEY ย ย
UCLA has been one of the most consistent teams in the country this season, posting 10 consecutive scores of 197 or higher. Only Oklahoma has also accomplished this feat this season, holding a streak of 12 meets. The queens of consistency on the squad have been Brooklyn Moors (33-for-33), Macy McGowan (33-for-33), Emily Lee (25-for-25) and Frida Esparza (11-for-11). Also speaking to consistency, three of the Bruins' Top 6 scores this season have been 197.550 scores on the road. UCLA's road average since Week 2 is 197.538, while its home average is 197.463. ย ย
CHILES REALLY IS THAT GIRL ย
In the past month and a half, junior Jordan Chiles was featured in Nike's Super Bowl commercial, honored by Time Magazine as one of its 2025 Women of the Year, appeared on "Good Morning America", "The Jennifer Hudson Show" and "SportsCenter", and released her New York Times best-selling book, I'm That Girl, all while competing every weekend for the Bruins. Chiles has seamlessly made the transition from Olympic medalist to UCLA Bruin (again). She made her much-anticipated return to UCLA after a one-year absence to train for and ultimately win gold and bronze at the 2024 Olympics. She rejoined the Bruin team on Dec. 14 after the fall quarter ended and has competed on at least three events in every meet, even with limited training time prior to the season. The six-time Big Ten Gymnast of the Week has five all-around victories in seven all-around attempts and scored a season-best 39.750 on March 9, the highest all-around score in the Big Ten this season. She has been ranked No. 1 in the nation on floor exercise for the last five weeks and is also ranked in the Top 10 on uneven bars (No. 3) and vault (No. 6).ย
Chiles scored her first perfect 10 of the year at Maryland on Jan. 18, receiving a perfect mark on uneven bars, and she added another 10 on Feb. 1, this time on floor exercise to clinch a UCLA comeback victory on the final event. That walk-off 10 was Chiles' fifth floor 10 of her career and 10th 10 overall, ranking her No. 5 all-time at UCLA with 10 career 10s. She is also No. 3 on bars and floor with five 10s on each event. Only Kyla Ross (11) and Jamie Dantzscher (7) have scored more 10s on bars, and only Dantzscher (17) and Katelyn Ohashi (9) have more than Chiles on floor. During Chiles' last NCAA season in 2023, she captured the NCAA uneven bars and floor exercise titles and helped lead UCLA to a fifth-place NCAA finish and Pac-12 regular season co-championship.ย
ALL-AROUND EXCELLENCE ย ย
Graduate student Chae Campbell has competed in the all-around in nine meets, averaging a team-best 39.442. She ranks No. 20 in the nation with a 39.442 NQS. Campbell won Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week honors that week and won again the last week of the regular season after scoring 39.525 in the all-around at Utah. Campbell ranks 17th in the nation on vault with a NQS of 9.900. She averages 9.875 on her 9.950 start-value vault and posted highs of 9.925 twice this year. Beam has become a strong suit for Campbell this season, as she is averaging 9.845 with five scores of 9.900 or higher. She set a new ย career-high of 9.950 on March 15 at Utah. On floor, Campbell averages 9.883 on the year, with a high of 9.975 set Feb. 1 against Michigan State. She has scored season-highs of 9.875 on uneven bars in three meets in the leadoff position, punctuating those routines with stuck double front dismounts.
GIMME MOORS ย
2020 Canadian Olympian Brooklyn Moors has been ranked in the Top 5 on floor exercise all season, including a two-week stint at No. 1. She is currently tied for fourth in the nation with a NQS of 9.955. Moors has not scored lower than 9.900 this year and has eight scores of 9.950 or higher, with a pair of career-highs of 9.975, most recently on Feb. 23 at Michigan. Moors has placed in the Top 3 on floor in every meet and has captured six event titles. She has competed on three events in all 11 meets this season and has hit all 33 of her routines. The last season she competed in three events was 2022, as she has mostly served as a floor specialist the last two years while dealing with injuries. She earned Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week honors on Jan. 21 after earning season-high marks on each event at Maryland, tying for first on floor with a 9.950, tying for second on vault with a 9.875 and finishing fifth on beam with a 9.850. Moors ranks second on the team with eight scores of 9.95 or higher this season and is third on the squad with 15 scores of 9.9 or higher. ย ย

She has scored 9.900 or higher in nine of 11 meets this season, with a high of 9.975, and has earned Top 2 finishes in eight meets, including a team-best five wins. The 2024 Philippines Olympian and two-time All-American averages 9.865 on beam in her career and has 11 scores of 9.950 or better, including one 10.0 and five 9.975s. She has also been strong on floor exercise, recording a NQS of 9.900. Malabuyo averages 9.845 on floor over her career, with a career-high of 9.950 and season-best of 9.925, which she achieved against Illinois in a second-place showing. On uneven bars, she has recorded career-high marks of 9.925 twice this season, most recently at Michigan on Feb. 23. Malabuyo ranks second on the Bruin squad in 9.9+ scores with 17, including a team-high nine on beam. ย ย ย ย ย ย
FOLLOW THE LEE-DER ย ย
In her usual No. 1 spot on balance beam, leadoff legend Emily Lee sets the tone for the No. 3 beam squad in the nation. The Bruins are averaging 49.352 on beam and have earned 49.4 or higher seven times this year, including five times on the road. Lee started each of those seven 49.4+ rotations with scores of 9.900 or higher, including a season-high and meet-winning 9.925 on Feb. 14 and another 9.925 on March 9. Her 9.900 at Washington was the first of six 9.9+ scores on beam, marking the first time since 2016 that a UCLA team had all six competitors score 9.9 or higher on beam. The Bruins matched that feat on March 9 with another full set of 9.9+ scores against Stanford. UCLA scored a season-best 49.625 in the Washington meet, the No. 6 mark in school history. In her career as a leadoff performer on beam, Lee is averaging 9.855 and has scored 9.900 or higher 58% of the time (22 times in 38 meets). Her leadoff prowess is not confined to beam. She made her floor season debut against Michigan State on Feb. 1, scoring 9.875 to help the Bruins post a national-best 49.800 floor mark. A queen of consistency, Lee has hit all 104 of her routines in her career without a fall, with her only sub-9.6 score coming due to a low start value. ย ย ย
C-ING THE TOP 25 ย ย ย
Junior Ciena Alipio has become a mainstay in the Top 25 rankings over the last month. Currently ranked 23rd, Alipio holds a NQS of 9.900 and has scored 9.850 or better in eight meets this season and 9.900 or higher in five meets. She leads the team with five uneven bars victories and seven Top 3 finishes and was named to the All-Big Ten second team. ย ย ย ย ย ย
FABULOUS FRESHMEN ย ย
Macy McGowan and Mika Webster-Longin, each three-time Level 10 National champions, have been integral competitors on the Bruin squad all season. McGowan has hit all 33 of her routines this season and averages over 9.8 on each of her three events, including 9.852 on floor and 9.841 on bars.

On floor, Campbell averages 9.883 on the year, with a high of 9.975 set Feb. 1 against Michigan State.
