No. 24 Swim & Dive Wraps Up Competition at NCAAs

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. โ The No. 24 UCLA swim and dive team wrapped up the final day of competition at the NCAA Championships on Saturday evening. Eden Cheng earned UCLA's first top-16 finish of the meet in the platform diving competition to highlight Saturday's performances.
UCLA had athletes participating in the 200 back, 200 breast platform diving, and 400 free relay on the final day of the NCAA Championships on Saturday.
In the finals session, Cheng took 10th overall and earned All-American honorable mention status for the third time in three years. The junior took 10th with a finals score of 311.20, to take second in the consolation final and secure her second career top-10 finish on platform.
As for the 400 free relay, the quartet of Claudia Yovanovich, Ana Jih-Schiff, Sarah Bennetts and Emma Harvey finished in 27th, and touched the wall in 3:16.39.
In the pool, the Bruins had three athletes participating: Ana Jih-Schiff and Karolina Piechowicz in the 200 breast and Rosie Murphy in the 200 back. UCLA also had Maya Salvitti and Cheng in action in the platform dive competition.
Murphy concluded action at her second NCAA Championships by finishing in 39th in the 200 back. The junior touched the wall in 1:54.35 Jih-Schiff and Piechowicz were back in action for the fourth day in a row. Jih-Schiif took 47th in the 200 breast in 2:12.17, while Piechowicz finished in 48th in 2:12.59.
As for the dive competition, Cheng earned UCLA's first finals appearance individually when she took 10th in the platform prelims. The junior scored a total of 282.05 points to clinch a spot in the consolation final. Maya Salvitti also took part in the platform competition, earning her first appearance at NCAAs in the process, and took 47th overall with a score of 170.60.
UCLA had four individuals and the 400 medley relay in action on night three of the four-day event.
On day three, UCLA had four individuals and one relay in action. Karolina Piechowicz and Ana Jih-Schiff both took part in the 100 breast, Rosie Murphy competed in the 400 IM, while Eden Cheng was involved in the 3-meter dive competition.
Piechowicz and Jih-Schiff finished in 29th and 40th place respectively. Piechowicz, who was competing in her first NCAA individual event, touched the wall in 59.51, while Jih-Schiff finished in 1:00.12. As for Murphy in the 400 IM, the junior took 31st overall in the discipline, with a time of 4:11.72.
On the diving boards, Cheng took part in her third NCAAs in three years during the prelims session of the 3m dive. The junior took 26th after completing five dives for a score 290.20.
In the finals session, UCLA's 400 medley relay set a new school record and won their heat on Friday night. The group of Fay Lustria, Karolina Piechowicz, Emma Harvey, and Ana Jih-Schiff combined to take 20th place and finished in a school record time of 3:31.61.
On opening night, the Bruins had the 200 medley relay in action. The quartet of Fay Lustria, Karolina Piechowicz, Emma Harvey and Ana Jih-Schiff took part in the second of four heats, and finished 21st overall with a time of 1:36.17.
As for the second day of action, UCLA had three individuals take part in prelims sessions. Jih-Schiff and Rosie Murphy took part in the 200 IM, while Molly Brascia competed in the 1m diving preliminary round.
In the 200 IM, Jih-Schiff took part in the third heat, while Murphy competed in the fourth heat of the event. Jih-Schiff took 45th overall, touching the wall in 1:57.66, while Murphy finished in 49th with a time of 1:58.00.
