UCLA Finishes Third at Sprouts Collegiate Quad with 197.000

January 10, 2026 | Gymnastics

West Valley City, Utah - UCLA scored 197.000 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad, placing third behind first-place Oklahoma (197.500) and second-place LSU (197.500) and ahead of fourth-place Utah (195.900). The Sooners won the tie-breaker of counting all 24 scores, 236.700-235.275.ย

The Bruins improved upon their season-opening team score, as well as on their scores on vault (49.275), bars (49.425) and floor (49.175).ย

The Bruins got off to a strong start on uneven bars, taking the first rotation lead after scoring 49.425. Katelyn Rosen led off with a 9.875, followed by a 9.9 from freshman Tiana Sumanasekera on her bars debut. After a 9.825 from Mika Webster-Longin, freshmen Nola Matthews and Ashlee Sullivan added 9.875s, and Jordan Chiles finished the rotation with a 9.900. Oklahoma scored 49.350 on vault to move into second place, just ahead of LSU, who scored 49.275 on floor exercise, and Utah, who scored just 47.775 on balance beam.

But the lead was short-lived after UCLA scored 49.125 on balance beam in rotation two. Rosen once again had a solid leadoff, scoring 9.825, but the Bruins had to count a 9.725. Webster-Longin provided a 9.800 to match her career-high, and Chiles added a 9.850. Ciena Alipio needed a big score to get the Bruins into the 49s, and she nailed every element of her routine, scoring 9.925 to push UCLA to a 49.125. Oklahoma moved into first place after scoring 49.475 on bars, and LSU's 49.325 on vault put the Tigers into second. ย

UCLA had six solid routines on floor exercise and scored 49.175. Rosen started with a 9.800, a score that was matched by Alipio in her floor debut and Webster-Longin. Sumanasekera and Sullivan followed with scores of 9.850 and 9.775, respectively, and Chiles brought the house down with a meet-winning 9.925. LSU cut into Oklahoma's lead with a 49.550 on bars, while the Sooners scored 49.500 on beam.ย

The Bruins closed the meet on vault and scored 49.275. Sumanasekera finished up her meet with a leadoff 9.875 on her Yurchenko full. Madisyn Anyimi followed with a 9.775, and Rosen and Jenkins each hit for a 9.825. Sullivan got huge distance on her Yurchenko 1.5 and scored 9.850, and Chiles scored 9.900 on her Yurchenko double full.ย

Chiles finished in second place in the all-around with a 39.575. Sumanasekera scored 39.350 in her all-around debut, and Rosen recorded a season-high 39.325.ย
