LAST TIME OUTย
In a battle between four of the Top 5 teams at last year's NCAA Championship, UCLA placed third at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad, scoring 197.000. Oklahoma and LSU each scored 197.500, with Oklahoma winning the tie-breaker, and Utah was fourth with a 195.900. The Bruins improved upon their season-opening team score, as well as on their scores on vault (49.275), bars (49.425) and floor (49.175). UCLA led after the first rotation after a strong start on uneven bars, led by a pair of 9.900 scores by Tiana Sumanasekera and Jordan Chiles. But a shaky beam rotation pushed the Bruins down to third place, and they were unable to catch up. Chiles finished second in the all-around with a 39.575 and tied for first place on floor exercise with a 9.925. ย
CHILES EARNS SECOND-STRAIGHT BIG TEN GYMNAST OF WEEK AWARDย
Jordan Chiles was selected the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week after posting a 39.575 all-around score at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad, the highest all-around total in the conference last week. Chiles earned UCLA's top marks on three of four events. She tied for first place on floor exercise with a 9.925, picking up her sixth individual title of the short season. She also scored 9.900 on vault and uneven bars and 9.850 on balance beam and has scored 9.900 or higher on seven of her eight routines this year. Her marks helped the Bruins record a season-best team total of 197.000, as well as season-best marks on vault (49.275), bars (49.425) and floor (49.175). She remains ranked No. 1 in the all-around with a season average of 39.650 and is ranked in the Top 10 on floor (No. 6) and vault (No. 10). She has won 13 career conference gymnast of the week awards, including eight in the Big Ten.

Tiana Sumanasekera ranks No. 14 in the all-around and No. 18 on bars, and Katelyn Rosen is No. 24 in the all-around. ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
DANCING AND GYMNASTICS QUEEN ย
Fresh off a third-place showing on Season 34 of "Dancing with the Stars" this fall, Jordan Chiles continues to surge, ranking No. 1 in the nation in the all-around and earning Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors for the first two weeks of the season. She kicked off her senior season on Jan. 3 with a show-stopping performance at the Best of the West Quad. Chiles placed first on all four events and won the all-around with a score of 39.725, UCLA's highest all-around score in a season opener since Kyla Ross also recorded that score in 2020. In week 2, she placed second in the all-around with a 39.575 and won floor exercise for the second-straight week with a 9.925.ย
ย
Dancing with pro Ezra Sosa, Chiles became the first female gymnast to make the "Dancing with the Stars" finale since Laurie Hernandez in season 23 in 2016. Chiles competed on the show while simultaneously training for the 2026 gymnastics season and taking a full set of classes at UCLA. The two-time Olympian and 2024 gold medalist enters her senior year as a three-time NCAA Champion, 16-time All-American and reigning Big Ten floor exercise champion. Chiles has scored 11 perfect 10s in her career - six on floor exercise and five on uneven bars - and 23 9.975s. She holds career-highs of 10.0 on uneven bars and floor exercise, 9.975 on vault and balance beam and 39.900 in the all-around. ย ย ย ย ย
ALIPIO MAKES FLOOR DEBUT ย
After competing exclusively on balance beam her first three seasons due to injuries, senior Ciena Alipio has taken the leap to multi-event gymnast, competing on floor exercise for the first time in her collegiate career at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. Alipio scored 9.800 to finish in the Top 15. She also posted UCLA's top balance beam score with a 9.925 and is nationally ranked No. 10 on that event. ย In the season opener, Alipio anchored the beam lineup for the first time in her career and scored 9.925 to place third en route to her first-ever Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week honor. She also exhibitioned on floor exercise and scored 9.800. Alipio is a two-time first-team All-American on beam and won the Big Ten balance beam title in 2025 with her first career perfect 10. Prior to her senior season, the only other non-beam routine that she had performed in college came in an exhibition on floor exercise in the 2025 season opener. As an elite gymnast, Alipio placed third in the all-around at her last international event, the 2022 Arthur Gander Memorial in Switzerland. She was also ninth in the all-around and sixth on floor exercise at the 2022 U.S. Classic. ย ย

Sumanasekera also scored 9.800 on vault and 9.850 in an exhibition uneven bars routine.
