
Bruins Take Down Tulane, UCSD at UCSD Quad Meet

SAN DIEGO โ The UCLA Swimming and Diving program opened the 2026 portion of the schedule with a quad meet against No. 15 Wisconsin, Tulane and UC San Diego at the Canyonview Aquatic Center on the campus of UC San Diego. The Bruins took two of three duals on the day, taking down Tulane and UC San Diego.

The Bruins kick-started action with the 400 medley relay. The quartet of Rosie Murphy, Sarah Bennetts, Jada Duncan and Anna Wetteland combined to take second place in 3:35.29.
In the first individual event of the day, Applejean Gwinn finished third in the 1000-yard free in 10:00.00.

Duncan continued her stellar freshman campaign with a first-place finish in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:46.28, while Murphy claimed the third spot on the podium with a time of 1:47.72.
The Bruins placed second and third in the 100 backstroke. Claudia Yovanovich finished in second place with a time of 53.44, while senior Fay Lustria came in third place in the discipline in 54.07 to round out the podium spots.
As for the 100 breast, Bennetts finished third in 1:01.23, marking the fifth event in a row in which the Bruins had at least one finisher in the top three.
Wetteland and Alexis Schaffer took first and second in the 50 free to give the Bruins their seventh and eighth individual podium finishes of the day. Wetteland took the top spot in 23.12, while Schaffer finished right behind her in 23.27.
Duncan earned her second event win of the day, this time winning the 100 free. She touched the wall in 48.81, while Wetteland took third place in 50.24.
The Bruins swept the 200 back in impressive fashion on Saturday. Murphy took the top spot in 1:54.01, Erica Jaffe finished second in 2:00.49, while Fay Lustria earned the third spot on the podium in 2:00.63, edging out Sydney Niles of UC San Diego by .02 of one second.
In the 100 breast, Bennetts earned her second third-place swim of the meet, touching the wall in 2:12.73.
Duncan earned her third individual event win of the meet in the 100 fly two events later. The Rocklin, California, native took the top spot in 52.27, earning the win by over 1.5 seconds over the second-place finisher.
Murphy continued her strong outing with a second-place showing in the 200 IM. The senior touched the wall in 1:57.05 to take second place overall in the event.
In the final event of the day, the Bruins had two relay teams finish in the top three places in the 200 free relay. The relay squad of Josie Arbuckle, Gizem Guvenc, Fiona Schere and Ava Lachey took first in 1:13.60, while the group of Yovanovich, Bennetts, Schaffer, and Wetteland finished in third place in 1:3042. ย
