Gabby Simpson joins the UCLA womenโs volleyball coaching staff for her first season as a volunteer coach this Fall. Simpson played four seasons of volleyball at Colorado (2014-2016) and Kansas (2018).
The right-side hitter and setter was a three-year starter at CU (2014-2016), earning All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention in her sophomore and junior seasons, and Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in โ14. Sheย was named a two-time Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week in 2015, as well as AVCA All-Pacific South Region Honorable Mention as a junior. Simpson appeared in 88 matches and 341 sets with the Buffaloes, producing 818 kills (2.40 per set), 1,216 assists (3.57 per set), 56 aces (0.16 per set), 644 digs (1.89 per set) and 194 blocks (0.57 per set). She totaled eight triple-doubles and 29 double-doubles. Off the court, the Colorado Springs nativeย was a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention selection.
After redshirting in 2017, Simpson recorded All-Big 12 Second Team honors in 2018 at KU. She played in all 27 matches and led the Jayhawks with 558 assists and 5.37 assists per set. Simpson was also third on the team in blocks (97) and digs (208) and fourth in kills (152), kills per set (1.46) and points (219.5), recording eight double-doubles and one triple-double. She also earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team plaudits.
Simpson is currently a club coach with Mizuno Long Beach Volleyball Club.
Simpson, who played professionally in Finland in 2019 before her career was cut short due to injury,ย graduated from Kansas in 2018 with a degree in general studies and earned her master's degree in digital content strategy (marketing and advertising).ย
