Bruins Second after First Day in Hawaii

The UCLA women's golf team is in second place after 36 holes at the Kent Youel Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Kapolei Golf Course on Oahu.

The Bruins posted a two-round team score of 596 and trail first place California by 15 shots. Stanford is third at 599, followed by BYU at 605 and New Mexico at 606.

Individually, sophomore Yvonne Choe is tied for seventh place at 147 after rounds of 71-76. Freshman Susie Mathews is tied for 10th at 148 (76-72) and junior Saki Uechi is tied for 14th at 150 after posting a pair of 75s. Juniors Gina Umeck (73-78-151) and Bridget Dwyer (80-78-158) are tied for 21st and 52nd, respectively.

Final round action continues Wednesday.
