Golfers Second after 36 Holes in OSU Tournament

The UCLA women's golf team was in second place Monday after 36 holes in the Oregon State Shanico Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, OR.

The Bruins posted an afternoon team score of 296 giving them a two-round total of 587, 11-over par. They trail California, which posted a second round score of even par 288, by two shots. Host Oregon State is third at 596, followed by Colorado at 598. San Jose State is fifth at 607.

The Bruins' Hana Kim was in third place at 145 after posting a second round 73. Junior Gina Umeck and sophomore Yvonne Choe are tied for eighth at 148 and junior Melissa Martin was tied for 15th at 149. Saki Uechi posted a 75 in the second round and was tied for 41st at 154.

Idaho's Nicole Keller leads the field at three-under par 141, followed by Cal's Vikki Laing at 143.

Final round action continues Tuesday.
