Bruins Finish Final Day in Palo Alto

The UCLA Women's Golf team concluded the final day of play at the Stanford Intercollegiate today in Palo Alto, CA. The Bruins turned in their best performance of the tournament, tying for the second-best score of the round at 288 (+4) and finishing with 879 (+27) for the competition. The three-day total was good enough to move the Bruins forward two spots, into a tie for eighth with Pac-12 rival Oregon State.
The last round saw several Bruins with fine individual efforts. Sophomore Erynne Lee carded her best score of the tourney with a 70 (-1), finishing under par to move from 25th into a five-way tie for 12th atop the player leaderboard. Junior Ani Gulugian went even on the day, finishing her tournament with a 71 (E) to climb into 21st. Senior Lee Lopez, after starting with four rough holes, bounced back and played two under over her last 14 to finish at 73 (+2). Gulugian was closely followed by freshman Louise Ridderstrom with a 74 (+3), and sophomore Kyle Roig notched a 77 (+6).
UCLA finished in a tie for eighth with the Beavers, who faltered on their last day with a 302 (+18) to drop out of contention. Leaders USC kept the pace with second-place Washington, as the #4 Trojans and #1 Huskies each posted a 286 (+2) on the afternoon to finish in first and second, respectively. Hosts Stanford scored a 289 (+5) to finish in third, with a 54-hole score of 868 (+16). #2 Arizona went two over on the day to finish at 869 (+17) to fill out an all Pac-12 top four.
The Bruins are back in action next weekend, as they head to Texas for the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin on October 28th.
