AUSTIN, Texas - The Bruins completed their first day at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships on Thursday in Austin, Texas. Junior Anna Senko reached the A final in the 200 Individual Medley in the top individual finish of the day.

The event got started with the 200 Freestyle Relay, as the team of juniors Kathryn Murphy, Ting Quah and Cynthia Fascella and sophomore Jessica Khojasteh finished fifth in a time of 1:31.24. The Bruin B team won the B final, as senior Molly Fitzgerald, junior Jesse Bergman, sophomore Taylor Carlson and senior Rachel Godfred had a time of 1:34.10.

Junior Lauren Baker was the Bruins' lone swimmer in the 500 Freestyle, and after setting a season-best 4:49.04 in the preliminaries, she swam a career-best 4:47.98 in the final.

Senko was the top UCLA swimmer in the 200 Individual Medley. The junior finished seventh in the prelims with a time of 1:58.07, which was a personal best. Senior Laurence Delisle (1:59.00) also set a career best, while senior Andrea Reigel (1:59.79) and sophomore Noelle Tarazona (2:00.20) also made the Top 24.

Murphy and Quah each qualified for the 50 Freestyle finals. Murphy swam 22.72 in the prelim, reaching the B final and posting a mark of 22.75. Quah set a personal best with a 22.94 in the prelims and swam even faster in the final (22.79).

The Bruins closed the night with a seventh-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. Reigel, Khojasteh, Quah and Murphy swam a time of 3:40.27.

The meet continues on Friday with the 200 Medley Relay, the 400 Individual Medley, the 100 Butterfly, the 200 Freestyle, the 100 Breaststroke, the 100 Backstroke and the 800 Freestyle Relay.
