ATHENS, Ga. and GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UCLA swimming team claimed first-place honors in the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships, while the Bruin divers had three in the top six in Saturday's 1-Meter at the UGA Fall Invitational.

UCLA as a team racked up 441 points, ahead of Michigan's 407. Sophomore Linnea Mack was fourth in the individual rankings with 65 points.

The Bruin swimmers concluded competition in Greensboro with five finishes in the top five on Saturday. The first event, the 200 Backstroke, featured sophomore Madison White and senior Ally Loper making the evening session. White was 10th in the preliminaries (1:56.00), while Loper finished 18th with a 1:57.28 to set an NCAA 'B' qualifying mark. 

In the 200 Back final, White won the B race with a season-best time of 1:53.68, which also improved her NCAA 'B' time. Loper was sixth in the C final (1:57.69).

In the 100 Freestyle, two more Bruins made the night session, with Mack setting another school record with a time of 48.46 in the prelims. It was the second-best mark in the morning and improved her NCAA 'B' time. Mack was fourth in the A final (48.66).

Senior Monica Dornick was 14th in the morning (50.01), but swam faster in the evening with a 49.68 to place sixth in the B race. It was a career best for Dornick and set an NCAA 'B' time. Also swimming in the 100 Free in the morning were freshman Sarah Kaunitz (34th, 50.80), White (54th, 51.31) and freshman Maddy Burnham (77th, 52.34).

In the 200 Breaststroke, senior Jessica Khojasteh reached the C final. In the morning, her 2:14.56 was 18th-best. She would set a career best in the evening with a 2:13.49, placing second in the race. It improved her NCAA 'B' time and moved her up to sixth on UCLA's all-time list. Senior Taylor Carlson was 64th (2:20.05) in the morning, while sophomore Brigitte Winkler placed 70th (2:20.63).

The 200 Butterfly was very successful with all five Bruins qualifying for the evening finals. Senior Noelle Tarazona was fifth (1:57.35) in the prelims, freshman Katie Grover placed seventh (1:57.51) to improve her NCAA 'B' time and freshman Anna Quinn was eighth (1:57.80). Tarazona improved to third in the A final with a 1:55.50, while Quinn was fifth (1:57.25), as each bettered their NCAA 'B' times.

Junior Katie Kinnear was 13th in the prelims (1:58.65) and set an NCAA 'B' time in the evening, finishing fourth in the B race (1:58.62). Junior Arlyn Upshaw was 21st in the morning with a career-best 1:59.88 and fifth in the C race (1:59.89).

Junior Katy Campbell was the Bruins' lone representative in the 1650 Free and was fourth at 16:04.96. It was a career-best swim, improved her position to third on UCLA's all-time list and set an NCAA 'B' time.

In the final race of the meet, the 400 Free Relay, the Bruins were fifth and 12th. The UCLA A team of White, Mack, Kaunitz and Dornick had a 3:18.80, while the Bruin B squad of Carlson, Grover, Burnham and Loper posted a 3:24.72.

The UCLA swimming team has wrapped up the 2014 portion of the schedule and will continue competition in 2015 with a tri-meet against Kansas and San Diego on Jan. 10 at 12 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Center.

The Bruin divers were also successful on Saturday in Athens with three of the four making the final. Freshman Maria Polyakova was second following the first six dives with a 297.65. Also making the final were sophomore Annika Lenz, fifth in the prelims (267.90) and freshman Ciara Monahan, 10th in the prelims (253.45).

Lenz's last six dives were a career-best total of 288.70 to place second in the final. Polyakova was third (283.25), while Monahan was sixth (271.50).

The Bruin divers wrap up competition in Georgia on Sunday with the Platform event, as Lenz, Repper and junior Montana Monahan take to the tower.
