LOS ANGELES - The Bruin middles combined for 16 kills and just one error in 34 attempts for a .441 hitting percentage on Friday, as junior Jennie Frager recorded nine kills and no miscues in 17 swings (.529) and junior Claire Felix posted seven kills and one error in 17 attempts (.353). However, #11 UCLA dropped a three-setter to #5 Washington at Pauley Pavilion. Set scores were 31-29, 25-16, 25-15.

The Bruins fall to 10-3 overall and 1-2 in Pac-12 play, while the Huskies improve to 13-0 and 3-0 in league action.

Junior Jordan Anderson led all players with 13 kills, while junior Taylor Formico (12) and sophomore Reily Buechler (11) were each in double figures in digs. Redshirt sophomore Ryann Chandler posted her second double-double of the season with 29 assists and 11 digs. Redshirt junior Haley Lawless added five kills and five blocks, Felix posted five roofs, senior Rachel Inouye had nine digs and senior Karly Drolson recorded eight digs. The Bruins hit .070 for the match.

The opening set featured 15 ties, eight lead changes, four Washington set points and three UCLA set points. The Huskies jumped out to an 8-3 lead before the Bruins got back in it. A 5-2 UCLA run cut the deficit to 10-8. Trailing 13-12, the Bruins had successive kills by Frager, Lawless and Anderson to go ahead by a pair. UCLA still led 19-17 before Washington scored five straight, but four in a row for the home team on a UW attack error, a Chandler/Felix block and kills by Felix and Anderson put UCLA back up 23-22.

The Huskies netted the next two to get a set point, but Anderson saved it. A second UW set point was thwarted on its own attack error and an Anderson kill gave UCLA its first set point at 26-25. The Huskies would end up saving three straight Bruin set points despite a pair of kills by Frager and then earned their third set point at 29-28. A Washington service error tied things at 29, but the Huskies got the next two to win the opener 31-29. Anderson led the Bruins with six kills, Frager added four and Lawless posted three. Chandler recorded 12 assists and seven digs, Formico notched eight digs, Drolson added six digs and Buechler posted five. The Bruins were out-hit .164 to .105.

Set two was different than the opener, as it featured just one tie at 2-all. Washington raced out to an 11-4 lead and pulled away late to take the second. A 6-1 Bruin run thanks to four blocks and a Frager ace cut the deficit to a pair at 12-10, but UCLA got no closer. The Huskies won the second 25-16. Frager led the Bruins with three kills, as UCLA was out-hit .286 to .083.

Washington led 6-3 early in set three before four in a row by UCLA on a Felix kill and three straight by Anderson put the home squad up 7-6. UCLA still led 9-8, but Washington netted the next four and six of seven to go ahead 14-10 and never trailed for the remainder of the set. At 19-14, the Huskies closed out the match on a 6-1 run to win the third 25-15. Anderson led the Bruins with five kills, while Felix added three, as the Bruins were out-hit .273 to .000.

The Bruins host Washington State on Sunday at the John Wooden Center at 11 a.m. The match will feature a live video stream and live stats on UCLABruins.com.
