The fourth-ranked UCLA women's golf team was in third place following the opening round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl hosted by Tulane University at English Turn Golf and Country Club.

The Bruins posted a team score of 292 (+4) and trailed first-place LSU (284, -4) and Tulane (291, +3). Vanderbilt was in fourth place at 6-over par 294, followed by Central Florida at 7-over 295.

Individually, only sophomore Bronte Law managed to beat par for the Bruins. She posted a 1-under par 71 – her ninth round under par this season – and was tied for fourth place. Law's card featured three birdies on the front nine and two bogeys on the inward side. Freshman Aliea Clark had the next best round, a 1-over par 73, and was tied for 12th. Senior Erynne Lee made three birdies, an eagle, five bogeys and a double-bogey for a 2-over par 74 and was tied for 19th place. Also tied with Lee was freshman Erin Choi, and rookie Lydia Choi, who was playing as an individual. Junior Louise Ridderstrom posted a 75 (+3) and was tied for 31st.

LSU's Madalene Sagstrom was the first round leader after firing a 68 (-4) on Sunday.
