Bruins Rise to 16th Place in NCAA Golf

May 24, 2015 | Women's Golf

The third-ranked UCLA women's golf team was in 16th place through 13 holes on Day 2 of the NCAA Women's Golf Championship, hosted by Concession GC in Bradenton, FL.

For the second straight day, play was suspended due to lightning, and will resume Sunday at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

Through 31 holes and two rounds, the Bruins were 42-over par, 11-over par on Day 2, and trailed first-place USC (+14) by 28 shots. Duke was in second place at 23-over par, followed by Tennessee at 27-over. Baylor was in fourth place at 28-over, followed by Purdue and UC Davis in a tie for fifth at 33-over.

The good news for the Bruins was that they were one shot out of a tie for 13th place and within seven shots of the top eight, which will advance to match play after Monday's round. Following Sunday's round, the field will be cut to 15 teams, then eight to determine the match play draw.

Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Bronte Law was two-over par through 11 holes on Saturday, 9-over par overall and tied for 42nd place. Freshman Erin Choi was also 2-over par on the day, 11-over through 31 holes and tied for 56th. Tied for 64th place was senior Erynne Lee, who was 1-over par in the second round and 12-over in two rounds of play. Junior Louise Ridderstrom was tied for 73rd at 13-over par and freshman Lydia Choi was tied for 97th at 17-over par.

Through 29 holes, USC's Annie Park was the tournament leader at 2-under par.
