
Bruins Finish Sixth in Season Opener

ORLANDO, Fla. - The fifth-ranked Bruins completed their season-opening tournament, the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M at the Reunion Resort Watson Course, in sixth place with a 2-under par, three-round total of 862.
UCLA shot its best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a four-player total of 284 (-4). Freshman Bethany Wu was the top Bruin on the leaderboard with a 4-under (212), placing 12th. Freshman Lilia Vu finished in a tie for 19th at 1-under (215), while junior Bronte Law tied for 25th (E, 216). Sophomore Lydia Choi tied for 40th (+5, 221) and senior Louise Ridderström placed 56th (+17, 233).
On Tuesday, Wu shot a 3-under 69, making three birdies on each side to go with three bogeys. Law was the second-lowest Bruin on the final day with a 2-under 70, which included five birdies to go with three bogeys. Two of Law's birdies came on par 3's, where she excelled during the three-day tournament with a -5 total, which was tied for the top spot among all players.
Choi was steady with two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars to fire an even-par 72 in the final round, while Vu shot a 1-over 73 with a pair of birdies and three bogeys. Ridderström shot an 81 (+9) on Tuesday.
The Bruins next play at the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 18-20).
