ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Freshman Spencer Soosman closed with a final-round, 1-under 71 on Sunday at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, as the Bruins finished 14th (+25, 889). UCLA shot a 5-over 293 as a team in its final round.
Soosman had six birdies during his final round on holes #1, #4, #5, #9, #16 and #17 to go with three bogeys and a double. He finished his first collegiate tournament in a tie for 29th at +2 (218).
The remaining four Bruins all shot 2-over 74's on Sunday. Junior Tyler Collier made birdies on the ninth and 10th, adding four bogeys, to tie for 52nd at +6 (222). Sophomore Cole Madey gained strokes on the first, fifth and eighth to go with a bogey and two double bogeys to tie for 63rd at +8 (224). Sophomore Patrick Murphy made five birdies, including three in a row on holes #7-#9, as well as the second and 17th, adding five bogeys and a double. He tied for 67th (+9, 225). Sophomore Matt Hutchins tied for 82nd (+18, 234), making birdies on the eighth and 11th holes, with four bogeys.
The Bruins head to Northern California on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 when they participate in the Cypress Point Classic at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach.
