Four Bruins were named VolleyballMag.com All-Americans on Thursday, as senior Taylor Formico earned First Team honors, junior Reily Buechler was recognized on the Third Team and seniors Jordan Anderson and Jennie Fragerย received Honorable Mention accolades.

Formico concludes her career with three All-American honors after picking up AVCA Honorable Mention as a freshman at UCSB (2012) and Third Team accolades a year ago. Anderson also earned her third All-American award, each of them being Honorable Mention nods (2014 at West Virginia, 2015 at UCLA). Buechler and Frager both received their first All-American plaudits.

The four All-American awards are tied for the most ever for a Bruin squad, equaling the totals in 1978, 1984, 1990 and 1992. Formico's First Team award is the 24th for UCLA. The Bruins have won 63 VolleyballMag.com All-American accolades.

Formico, the Pac-12 Conference Libero of the Year for the second straight season, led the Bruins and all league players with 5.15 digs per set (20th in the nation), adding 21 service aces, which tied for second on the team. Also named AVCA All-Region and All-Pac-12 First Team, Formico had double figures in digs in 33 of 34 matches, including at least 20 on 17 occasions. The three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week had a season-best 36 digs against Arizona on Oct. 9. She didn't just chip in with her defense though, as she produced 10 kills, tied a career high with four aces in the NCAA Second Round match versus Baylor (Dec. 3) and recorded the second double-double of her career with 20 digs and 11 assists against Utah on Oct. 29. Formico produced 6.14 dps in the NCAA Tournament and was named to the Minneapolis All-Regional Team.

Buechler, an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention winner for the third year in a row and an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention selection, led the team with 3.34 kills and 3.78 points per set, ranking eighth among Pac-12 players in kps. She also ranked tied for second with 21 service aces and third with 2.37 digs per set, adding 0.42 blocks per set. Buechler had 22 double-figure kills matches, 13 double-figure digs contests and 10 double-doubles. She reached the 20-kill mark three times, including a season-best 21 against USC (Sept. 21) and Murray State (Dec. 2). Buechler averaged 4.71 kps and 3.57 dps during the NCAA Tournament, setting a new career high with 24 digs in the NCAA Regional Semifinal contest versus North Carolina (Dec. 9), adding a match-best 19 kills.ย 

Anderson, who picked up AVCA All-Region and All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention accolades, was second on the team with 3.19 kills and 3.50 points per set, adding 1.11 digs per set, 0.40 blocks per set and seven service aces. Anderson had double figures in kills 24 times, adding three double-doubles.ย Her season best in kills came versus Colorado on Oct. 28 when she had 18. Anderson's Bruin high in digs of 19 occurred versus Washington State on Sept. 23, while her career best in blocks came at Oregon with a six-roof effort on Oct. 12. Anderson led UCLA in kills in 10 contests, including the last match of the season, when she posted 16 with a .448 hitting percentage against Minnesota (Dec. 10) in the Regional Final. She was named to the Minneapolis All-Regional Team.

Frager, who was named AVCA All-Region and All-Pac-12 First Team, led the Bruins with 1.10 blocks per set and a .354 hitting percentage, adding 2.20 kills per set and six service aces. She ranked fifth among Pac-12 players in hitting and ninth in bps.ย Frager had 15 double-figure kills contests, hit over .400 on 12 occasions and posted at least five blocks in 12 matches. The senior set career highs this year in kills and blocks, notching 16 kills versus Colorado on Oct. 28, while posting 10 blocks at Loyola Marymount on Aug. 27.ย She also earned her first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award on Aug. 29. In the NCAA Regional Semifinals against UNC, Frager was error-free with 11 kills in 21 attempts for a .524 percentage. She hit .444 in the two matches of the Minneapolis Regional.
