Bruins Tie for Fifth at NGRC

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The third-ranked Bruins tied for the second-best final round on Tuesday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club, finishing the tournament in a tie for fifth at +26 (878). UCLA shot a 7-over 291 in round three.
Junior Bronte Law was the top finisher for the Bruins at 1-over (214), shooting a 1-under 70 on Tuesday. With a shotgun start on the fifth hole, she made birdies on the sixth, 11th, 13th and fourth to go with three bogeys on the fifth, ninth and 15th. In Law's last three tournaments, she has finished first and T-4 twice.
Freshman Bethany Wu posted her best collegiate finish with a T-10 (+3, 216). Also starting on the fifth, she was even par (71) in her final round, with birdies on holes #7, #14 and #15 and bogeys on the fifth, 13th and second. Freshman Lilia Vu tied for 20th at +8 (221) after going 4-over (75) on Tuesday. Starting on the sixth, she made birdies on the 12th, 13th and 18th to go along with seven bogeys.
Senior Louise Ridderström was 4-over (75) in her final round to finish in a tie for 51st (+18, 231). She birdied her first hole, the eighth, along with the 14th and 15th to go with three bogeys and two double bogeys. Sophomore Lydia Choi was 5-over (76) to place in a tie for 53rd (+19, 232). Opening on the 17th hole, she birdied the sixth and 14th and made seven bogeys. Junior Hadas Libman made a birdie on the 12th, but also made six bogeys, en route to a 5-over (76) on Tuesday. She tied for 65th at +23 (236). Sophomore Erin Choi had an 8-over (79) in her final round with birdies on the seventh and first to go with eight bogeys and a double.
The Bruins' next tournament takes them to the Big Easy, as they take part in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship in New Orleans.
