HONOLULU, Hawai'i -ย Junior Reily Buechler posted her second double-double in a row with 14 kills and 11 digs, senior Taylor Formico added 16 digs and freshman Savvy Simo recorded 13 digs, as the eighth-ranked Bruins won their sixth in a row with a sweep at #15 Hawai'i on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center. Set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.

The Bruins' 6-0 record marks their best start to a season since their National Championship year of 2011. The Rainbow Wahine fell to 3-3. Senior Jordan Anderson was also in double figures with 11. Senior Jennie Frager added eight kills and six blocks, while senior Claire Felix was error-free with six kills in 14 attempts (.429). Junior Ryann Chandler recorded 37 assists and four blocks, while sophomore Zana Muno had nine digs.

The Bruins came back to take the first after having dropped the opening set in each of their last three matches. UCLA led early 4-2, but Hawai'i responded with a 10-2 run to take a set-best lead of six at 12-6. The Bruins netted five straight on three Anderson kills, a combo block by Frager and senior Haley Lawless and a UH attack error to cut their deficit to one at 12-11. The Rainbow Wahine got their lead back up to four at 17-13 and 19-15, but four straight for UCLA on a Chandler solo block and three Wahine errors equaled the score at 19.

Hawai'i charged back to take a 22-20 lead, but UCLA would score five of the last six of the set to take it 25-23. Two kills by Anderson and a UH attack error gave the Bruins the lead, while a Frager/Lawless combo block gave the visitors a pair of set points. On the second set point, a UH service error wrapped up the two-point win. Anderson paced UCLA with six kills, while Buechler added three, as the Bruins out-hit the Rainbow Wahine .149 to .102. Defensively, Muno had seven digs, Formico and Simo each posted six and Frager added three blocks.

The Bruins' largest lead of set two was only three points, but they held on to take a 2-0 advantage in the match. UCLA scored the first three on a kill by Lawless and back-to-back spikes from Frager. Still up 5-2, the Rainbow Wahine scored four in a row to take a 6-5 edge. The Bruins trailed as late as 14-13 before a Lawless kill and a UH attack error gave UCLA the lead for good.

At 20-19, a Frager kill and a combo block with the senior and Buechler put the Bruins ahead 22-19. Hawai'i got the next two to cut it to one, but UCLA scored three of the last four on two kills by Buechler and the clincher from Felix to win the set 25-22. Buechler had six kills in the second, Frager added five and Felix posted three, as the Bruins out-hit the Rainbow Wahine .283 to .231. Formico and Simo each had five digs in the set.

UCLA fell behind by as much as four in set three at 12-8 and 14-10, but would come back again to sweep the Rainbow Wahine. A 7-1 run after their 14-10 deficit put the Bruins up 17-15. The run began with a Frager/Buechler block and also featured Buechler and Lawless kills and four Hawai'i hitting errors.

Equal at 17, the Bruins reeled off four in a row to stay ahead for good. Buechler had three consecutive points on a kill and back-to-back aces, while Felix and Chandler teamed up for a block. The closest UH would get the rest of the way was two. On the Bruins' second match point, Lawless notched the kill to finish a 25-22 victory. Buechler totaled five kills in the third, while Anderson added three. Formico notched five digs. The Bruins out-hit the Rainbow Wahine .154 to .143.
