UCLA Hosts Utah, Bruin Diving Invitational

The UCLA swimming and diving team hosts its final weekend of action at Spiekerย Aquatics Center this season, entertaining Utah in a dual meet on Friday, while welcoming around 50 divers for the Bruin Diving Invitational, which runs Friday through Sunday.
This weekend's action kicks off on Friday at 10:30 a.m. on the diving boards with the preliminaries of the women's 3-Meter and the men's 1-Meter. Finals for both events will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. The Bruins will then honor their 10 seniors, Katy Campbell, Emily Hammond, Nina Hayes, Annika Lenz, Linnea Mack, Michaela Merlihan, Savannah Steffen, Hayden Walker, Madison White and Brigitte Winkler, at 1:45 p.m. prior to the 2 p.m. start of their meet with Utah.ย
The Bruin Diving Invitational continues on Saturday with the prelims of the women's Platform and the men's 3-Meter at 9:30 a.m. (finals at 11:45 a.m.), while the weekend wraps up on Sunday with the women's 1-Meter and men's Platform (prelims: 10:30 a.m.; finals: 12:45 p.m.). Women's divers from UCLA, Azusa Pacific, California, Cal Poly, Fresno State, New Mexico, San Diego State, USC and Utah will compete, as well as men's divers from California, Cal Poly, Utah and USC.
UCLA, ranked 22nd in the nation, is coming off dominating wins over Kansas (202-92) and Boise State (164-130) last Friday, posting 10 first-place finishes out of 16 events. The Bruins finished first in the 1000 Freestyle (Margaux Verger Gourson), 100/200 Backstroke (White), 100 Breaststroke (Sarah Kaunitz), 200 Butterfly (Amy Okada), 3-Meterย (Lenz), 100 Free (Mack), 200 Breast (Emma Schanz), 1-Meter (Ciara Monahan) and the 200 Medley Relay.
The Bruins have won 10 of their 11 matchups this season, including Pac-12 victories over Oregon State (Oct. 22), Arizona (Nov. 4) and Arizona State (Nov. 5). Last season in Salt Lake City, UCLA defeated Utah, 182-95. Following the Utah meet, the Bruins will close out the regular season on the road at Stanford (Jan. 27), California (Jan. 28) and USC (Feb. 10).
