#13 BRUINS TRAVEL TO WSU, #14 WASHINGTON
The 13th-ranked Bruins finish up their four-match road swing this weekend in the Pacific Northwest, facing Washington State on Friday at 8 p.m. and #14 Washington on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both contests will air on Pac-12 Networks.

WHAT'S NEXT?
UCLA opens a four-match homestand next weekend at Pauley Pavilion, hosting Arizona on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. and Arizona State on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. There will be no televised matches, but both contests will feature free video and audio streams on UCLABruins.com.

BRUINS IN THE POLLS
The Bruins stayed at 13th for the second week in a row in the latest AVCA poll, the sixth time this season UCLA has had that prime ranking. UCLA dropped 91 points. Seven teams ranked in the current Top 25 are on UCLA's schedule (#2 Stanford, #7 Nebraska, #12 Utah, #14 Washington, #15 Oregon, #18 San Diego and #19 USC), with Colorado and Oregon State also receiving votes. In the Pac-12 Conference Preseason Poll, the Bruins are fifth, receiving 83 points.

NEWS AND NOTES
Senior Reily Buechler's 83 attempts in last Saturday's win at Colorado were the most swings for a Bruin since Oct. 12, 2012 when Rachael Kidder had 83 at Stanford ... Buechler had a season-best 23 kills, while freshman Jenny Mosser added a career-high 28. It was the first contest in which a pair of Bruins had at least 20 kills since Oct. 10, 2014 against Utah. Buechler was also a part of that match when she had 20 to go with Karsta Lowe's 30 ... senior Sarah Sponcil comes into this week's play ranked 34th in the nation in assists per set (10.96) ... junior Zana Muno is second among Pac-12 liberos in digs per set at 4.77. Sponcil is third in aps, sophomore Madeleine Gates is eighth in blocks per set (1.20) and Buechler is ninth in kills (3.30) and points (3.80) per set. As a team, the Bruins are second in dps (16.23) ... on 17 occasions this season, a Bruin has served at least two aces in a match. Freshman Mac May, the team leader in aces, has done it six times, junior Kyra Rogers four times, Buechler, Mosser and sophomore Savvy Simo twice and Sponcil once ... the Bruins are 11-1 when winning the opening set, with the only loss coming against Washington (Sept. 29). UCLA is also undefeated when winning a fourth set (6-0) ... the Bruins are 11-1 when leading their opponent in hitting percentage and 9-1 when holding their foe under a .200 clip ... Rogers has hit over .400 in six matches this season, setting a career high with a .588 percentage at Hawai'i on Aug. 27. She has four double-figure kills matches for her career, all this year, posting a season-best 14 at Long Beach State on Sept. 15. Rogers also has an ace in 11 matches, including eight of her last 12 ... Buechler has a team-best 15 double-figure kills matches, surpassing 20 for the second time this season at CU (had 21 vs. WSU on Oct. 1). She also had double-doubles in both matches last week to give her nine, which is tied for the team lead. Buechler, who has 1,379 career kills, is 16th in UCLA history. Next up on the list are Daiva Tomkus (15th, 1,389), Lori Zeno (14th, 1,404) and Lowe (13th, 1,422). Buechler, who served a career-high four aces at Arizona on Oct. 4, has an ace in six of her last seven ... Mosser set a new career high with 28 kills at Colorado, hitting .400 in the victory, giving her 11 double-figure kills contests and her first over 20. She has at least six digs in five matches in a row and has a pair of double-doubles to her credit. Mosser also had three aces in the two matches last weekend ... Muno has double figures in digs in seven in a row, registering at least 20 in five straight. She is averaging 5.90 dps over her last handful of matches. Muno recorded 28 in last Saturday's victory at Colorado, which is six shy of her career high of 34 at Hawai'i (Aug. 27) ... Simo has double figures in digs in five in a row, averaging 3.60 dps over her last handful of contests. She had 18 digs at Utah last Friday, which was two shy of her career high of 20 against USC (Sept. 20). Simo also got into double figures in aces for the year with one ace in three straight ... Sponcil had career highs in assists (63), digs (25) and blocks (6) in the win at Colorado. She is tied for the team lead with nine double-doubles, including five during Pac-12 play. Offensively, Sponcil has at least one kill in 10 matches in a row ... May, who was out last weekend with a sickness, reached double figures in kills for the eighth time with 12 against Cal. She has at least six kills in every contest this season. The team leader in aces with 17 has multiple aces in a contest six times ... Gates, who had a match-best 15 kills at ASU (Oct. 6), has at least seven kills in 12 matches in a row, including a career-high 17 against Oregon (Sept. 22). She did not commit a hitting error versus UO in 29 attempts for a .586 percentage. Defensively, Gates has a team-best nine matches with at least five blocks, including a career-high 10 against San Diego (Aug. 25).

SCOUTING THE WASHINGTON STATE COUGARS
Washington State (13-9, 2-8 Pac-12) has lost five in a row and seven of eight, with its most recent victory being a four-set triumph against Colorado on Oct. 6. The Cougars are averaging 12.22 kills, 1.06 aces, 13.80 digs and 3.02 blocks per set, hitting .217 as a team. Junior Taylor Mims leads the way offensively with 3.87 kps, junior McKenna Woodford is second at 2.81 kps and senior Casey Schoenlein is third at 2.15 kps. Sophomore Ashley Brown (5.00 assists per set) and freshman Penny Tusa (4.54) split the setting duties. Sophomore Alexis Dirige leads the backcourt with 4.47 dps, while sophomore Jocelyn Urias (1.47), junior Ella Lajos (1.16) and junior Claire Martin (1.06) are each averaging over a block per set.

THE SERIES: BRUINS VS. COUGARS
UCLA leads the all-time series against Washington State 54-8 following a four-set home victory on Oct. 1. Reily Buechler led the Bruins with 21 kills and just one error in 43 attempts (.465), Zana Muno added 23 digs and Sarah Sponcil had 46 assists and 16 digs. The Bruins have won 27 of their last 28 against Washington State (only loss in 2016). UCLA is 25-5 in Pullman, with 13 straight victories (last loss 2002).

SCOUTING THE WASHINGTON HUSKIES
Washington (16-5, 6-4 Pac-12), which hosts USC on Friday, snapped a two-match losing streak with a sweep of Cal last Sunday. The Huskies are averaging 13.48 kills, 1.48 aces, 14.66 digs and 3.21 blocks per set, hitting .249 as a team. Three players are averaging at least 2.00 kps, led by senior Carly DeHoog's 2.95. Sophomore Kara Bajema is second (2.77), followed by senior Courtney Schwan (2.56). Senior Bailey Tanner handles the setting duties and is averaging 10.11 assists per set. Senior Tia Scambray is tops with 3.66 dps, while freshman Lauren Sanders (1.57), senior Marion Hazelwood (1.39) and DeHoog (1.05) are each recording over a block per set.ย 

THE SERIES: BRUINS VS. HUSKIES
UCLA leads the all-time series with Washington 43-28, but has lost eight in a row to the Huskies after a four-set loss on Sept. 29. Reily Buechler (14 kills/12 digs), Jenny Mosser (12 kills/11 digs) and Sarah Sponcil (40 assists/17 digs) all had double-doubles. The Bruins are 19-18 in Seattle, but have not won at Alaska Airlines Arena since 2003 (14 in a row).
