ย
It took six set points for the Bruins to win the opener, while also saving three Oregon State set points. The Beavers led by as much as five at 9-4, and were up by three as late as 13-10. At 15-13, a 4-0 UCLA run on two Mosser kills and an OSU attack error gave the Bruins their first lead of the match. Even at 21, a May kill, an OSU error and a Sponcil/Gates block gave UCLA three set points, but the Beavers saved them all.
ย
Oregon State would save another one at 25-24 before getting its first two set points at 26-25 and 27-26, but an attack error and a Mosser kill evened the score at 27. Another OSU attack error gave the Bruins a fifth set point, but again the Beavers held strong. A May kill at 28-29 saved a third OSU set point and was the start of a 3-0 run to end the set, as back-to-back Buechler kills closed out a 31-29 victory. Buechler and Rogers each had five kills, Gates and May both posted four and Mosser added three, as the Bruins out-hit the Beavers .246 to .167. Muno recorded eight digs and Buechler had four.
ย
The Bruins led wire-to-wire in set two, scoring seven of the first 10 points on two May kills and a combo block with Rogers, two Gates kills, a Mosser solo block and an OSU attack error. The closest the Beavers would get the rest of the way was two at 12-10, with UCLA responding with a 7-1 run to break it open. Back-to-back Buechler kills made it 14-10, and after a sideout, kills by Gates and Rogers, two in a row from Mosser and an OSU attack error extended the advantage to eight. UCLA's largest lead of the second was nine, as it won the set 25-17 following a kill by Buechler. Gates (5-for-10) and Mosser (5-for-7) were both error-free in the second, Buechler added four kills, May was 3-for-5 with no miscues and Rogers had three. Muno again had eight digs. The Bruins out-hit the Beavers .425 to .147.
ย
The Bruins' only deficits in set three were 1-0 and 2-1, as a May kill, a Rogers ace, a May/Gates block and a Gates kill gave UCLA the lead for good at 5-2. Still up by one at 14-13, runs of 5-0 and 7-1 broke it open for the Bruins, as two Buechler kills, a Mosser/Gates block, a Gates kill and an OSU error made it 19-13. After a sideout, a Mosser kill and block with Rogers extended the lead to a set-best seven. Leading 23-19, back-to-back May kills finished up a 25-19 victory. May was 5-for-6 with no errors in the third, Gates added four kills and Buechler posted three kills and four digs. Muno and Sponcil each registered five digs, Mosser and Simo both had four and Mosser and Rogers each recorded three blocks. The Bruins out-hit the Beavers .261 to .125.
