Yoshihara and Madey Make Top 10 in San Diego

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Freshman Hidetoshi Yoshihara and sophomore Cole Madey each finished in the Top 10 at the Lamkin San Diego Classic at the San Diego Country Club. Yoshihara tied for fifth at 5-under (211), while Madey tied for seventh at 4-under (212).
Yoshihara fired a 3-under 69 on Tuesday, making seven birdies and four bogeys. Starting on the 10th, he birdied his opening hole, as well as three in a row from #14-#16. Yoshihara gained three more strokes on #2, #6 and #8, as he would lead the field in birdies with 17.
Madey shot an even-par 72 in his final round. He birdied four straight holes (#13-#16), while making two bogeys and a double. Madey tied for first in par-3 scoring (-2). Junior Corey Shaun tied for 55th at 8-over (224), posting an even-par 72. He birdied #12, #14 and #8, adding three bogeys. Freshman Harrison Mahon tied for 58th at 9-over (225), shooting a 3-over 75 on Tuesday. He made three birdies on #14, #16 and #2 to go with six bogeys.
As a team, the Bruins finished ninth at 4-over (868). UCLA was even-par (288) on Tuesday.
The Bruins' next tournament will take place at the Stanford Golf Course, as UCLA takes part in The Goodwin (March 30-April 1).
