NAPA, Calif. - Following 18 holes of play on Sunday at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa, the fifth-ranked Bruins sit one shot back of first-place Stanford, while sophomore Bethany Wu and freshman Mariel Galdiano are also one stroke off the individual lead.
The Bruins as a team posted a 4-under 284, and along with the Cardinal (-5), are the only two teams under par after Sunday's round.
Galdiano and Wu sit one shot behind Gonzaga's Bianca Pagdanganan, who is at 5-under (67). In Galdiano's 4-under 68 round, she birdied her second hole of the day, #11, and then strung together four birdies in a row (#15-#18). Her lone blemish came with a bogey on the fourth. Wu was bogey-free, making birdies on #11, #13, #15 and #3.
Two bad holes cost a good round for sophomore Lilia Vu, who shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 31st. She had three birdies on #13, #14 and #16, but also had a double and a triple bogey. Junior Erin Choi is also tied for 31st following a 74. She made a pair of birdies on the third and ninth to go with four bogeys. Freshman Clare Legaspi recorded a 5-over 77 and is tied for 63rd. She made birdies on #16 and #7, four bogeys and a triple.
The Bruins will go off the first tee on Monday starting at 9:39 a.m. in the order of Legaspi, Choi, Vu, Wu and Galdiano. Live scoring will be available here.
