#12 Bruins Drop Series Finale to #3 Arizona

LOS ANGELES - On Senior Day, Delaney Spaulding had a solo home run, a double and scored both UCLA runs, but the 12th-ranked Bruins dropped the series finale to #3 Arizona on Sunday by a score of 7-2.ย
The Bruins (39-13, 13-8 Pac-12) had just five baserunners for the game on four hits and a walk. In the circle, redshirt senior Paige McDuffeeย pitched one inning, allowing four runs and four hits. Junior Selina Ta'amilo tossed six frames in relief, striking out three and giving up three runs, five hits and five walks.
Arizona (48-7, 18-6) scored four runs on one swing of the bat in the first on a grand slam by Jessie Harper. The Wildcats added three more in the fourth, scoring on an error, a wild pitch and an RBI double by Harper.
The Bruins got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, as Spaulding led off with a double to center, moved to third on a single up the middle by junior Kylee Perez and scored one out later on a sacrifice fly to right by junior Madeline Jelenicki to make it 7-1.
Spaulding brought in the Bruins' second run of the game in the sixth, tying for the team home run lead with her 12th off of the camera tower in center field to make it 7-2.
UCLA closes out the regular season next weekend at Arizona State. The series starts on Thursday at 6 p.m. The game will air on Pac-12 Network.
