STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Mariel Galdiano set and tied school records on Saturday, torching the Stanford Golf Course with a 9-under 62 to take the lead at the Stanford Intercollegiate after two rounds.

Galdiano's 9-under tied teammates Lilia Vu (2017 Silverado Showdown Round 2) and Patty Tavatanakit (2018 ANNIKA Intercollegiate Final Round) for the lowest UCLA round in relation to par. Vu and Tavatanakit's 9-under were 63s on a par-72 layout, meaning the 62 for Galdiano on this par-71 course is the lowest score for one round in Bruin history. Coming off her first-career victory at her last event, the Golfweek Conference Challenge, the junior produced 10 birdies to just one bogey. Galdiano started with a birdie on the 10th and added three in a row on holes No. 12-14. Her lone bogey came on No. 17, which was book-ended by a pair of birdies on No. 16 and 18 to make the turn at 31. After making birdie on her first hole on the front side, Galdiano went back-to-back on holes No. 4 and 5, getting her last birdie on the eighth to shot a 31 on the front. She enters Sunday's final round at 9-under 133, giving her a three-shot lead over Stanford's Albane Valenzuela.

As a team, the Bruins are in eighth place at 10-over 578 after recording a 3-under 281 on Saturday. It was 16 shots better than their total on Friday and the third-lowest round of the day.

Senior Beth Wu recorded a 3-under 68, 10 strokes better than her first round, and moved up 36 spots into a tie for 35th (+4, 146). After eight pars and a bogey on her first (back) nine, she made a pair of birdies on the first and ninth holes to go with an eagle on No. 7 to shoot 31 on her final nine. Junior Clare Legaspi is tied for 19th (+1, 143), shooting a 5-over 76 after five bogeys. Freshman Phoebe Yue is in 82nd place (+15, 157) following a 4-over 75. She made a birdie on the seventh and five bogeys. Sophomore Vera Markevich is tied for 87th (+21, 163), shooting an 11-over 82 on seven bogeys and two doubles.

The final round on Sunday will be a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. Legaspi and Galdiano open on the seventh hole, Wu on the eighth and Markevich and Yue on the ninth.
