No. 22 Bruins Drop 3-1 Decision at No. 16 Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. - Senior Zana Munoย recorded 27 digs and a pair of aces, but the 22nd-rankedย Bruins dropped a four-set decision at No. 16 Oregon on Sunday at Matthew Knight Arena. Set scores were 25-21, 14-25, 16-25, 25-27.
Three Bruins (12-9, 7-7 Pac-12) were in double figures in digs, as junior Savvy Simoย had 16 and sophomore Jenny Mosser added 12 with nine kills. Sophomore Mac May collected 12 kills and four digs, senior Kyra Rogers had nine kills, redshirtย freshman Alexis Light added six kills and junior Madeleine Gates had five kills and five blocks. Junior Kylie Miller notched 34 assists and nine digs. The Bruins hit .077 for the match.ย
With nine ties and three lead changes in the first set, the score was even at 17 before the Bruins scored eight of the last 12 to take the opener, 25-21. Three of the first four points came on a Gates/Mosser block, a Mosser ace and a Light kill. At 22-21, the Bruins got the next three on a Rogers kill, an Oregon attack error and a May ace to win by four. Light was error-free with four kills in eight attempts in the first, May added four kills and Rogers had three. Muno produced eight digs and Mosser and Simo both had five. The Bruins out-hit the Ducks, .184 to .111.

The Ducks quickly grabbed the lead back with the next three and would maintain the advantage at 24-23 to earn a match point. However, a service error and an attack error gave the Bruins a set point. But, the Ducks got the next three to win the fourth by a score of 27-25. May and Rogers both had four kills, while Mosser added three. Simo posted seven digs and Muno had five. The Bruins were out-hit, .205 to .087.
UCLA is back in action on Thursday, Nov. 8 against No. 18 Washington State. The match will start at 6 p.m. at Pauleyย Pavilion presented by Wescomย and will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
