KOHALA, Hawaii - A trio of Bruins are in the Top 20 following two rounds of the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, as UCLA moved up to ninth after Tuesday's play at the Nanea Golf Club.
As a team, the Bruins shot a 3-over 295, six shots better than Monday, and are at 12-over 596 through 36 holes.
Junior Clare Legaspi had the low round of the day for the Bruins with a 2-under 71. She made four birdies, including two in a row on No. 14 and 15. Legaspi also gained strokes on No. 2 and 5, while making two bogeys, as she is tied for 16th at 1-over 147 through two rounds.
Senior Beth Wu is the low Bruin for the tournament so far, as she is tied for eighth at 1-under 145. She shot a 2-over 75 on Tuesday, making three birdies on No. 16, 18 and 2, one bogey and two doubles. Junior Mariel Galdiano is also tied for 16th (-1, 147), posting a 1-under 72 in her second round. She made three birdies (No. 13, 18 and 10) and two bogeys. Sophomore Vera Markevich is 55th (+13, 159), shooting a 6-over 79 on six bogeys. Freshman Phoebe Yue is 56th (+15, 161), recording a 4-over 77 on two birdies (No. 5 and 13) and six bogeys.
The final round for the Bruins on Wednesday will be another shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. PT/7:30 a.m. HT on holes No. 11 through 15 in the order of Wu, Galdiano, Legaspi, Markevich and Yue.
