KOHALA, Hawaii - The Bruins closed out the fall season with an eighth-place showing at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, as a trio of golfers finished inside the Top 25 at the Nanea Golf Club.
UCLA shot a 2-over 294 on Wednesday, its best round of the tournament, to finish at 14-over 890.
Senior Beth Wu was the top finisher for the Bruins, tying for 10th at 1-under 218. She was even par (73) on Wednesday, making a pair of birdies on No. 14 and 16 and two bogeys. Junior Mariel Galdiano tied for 12th (E, 219) after posting a 1-under 72. She made back-to-back birdies on No. 13 and 14 and just one bogey. Junior Clare Legaspi tied for 22nd at 2-over 221, shooting a 1-over 74 in her final round on two birdies (No. 13 and 18) and three bogeys. Freshman Phoebe Yue made the most birdies out of any Bruin on Wednesday, recording four on No. 4, 5, 9 and 13 to go with six bogeys. She shot a 2-over 75 and finished in 54th (+17, 236). Sophomore Vera Markevich tied for 56th (+20, 239), shooting a 7-over 80 on four bogeys and a triple.
The Bruins are off from competitive action for the next 12 weeks, starting the spring at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club (Feb. 3-5).
