March 02, 2018 | Swimming & Diving

LOS ANGELES โ€“ Four UCLA divers will take part in the 2018 NCAA Zone E Championships, scheduled to run Monday, March 5 through Wednesday, March 7 at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz. Live results for each event will be available at DiveMeets.com.

Pac-12 one-meter and three-meter champion Eloise Belanger (1M, 3M, PL) headlines the list of Bruin invitees. The junior is joined by fellow veteran Ciara Monahan (1M, 3M) and Zones first-timers Traci Shiver (PL) and Alice Yanovsky (3M).

Ninety-six divers from 26 schools make up the entry list, comprised of both men's and women's student-athletes. The women's schedule is as follows, with times tentative and in Pacific Standard Time:

Monday, March 5
One-Meter Prelim โ€“ 10 a.m.
One-Meter Final โ€“ 1:35 p.m.

Tuesday, March 6
Three-Meter Prelim โ€“ 10 a.m.
Three-Meter Final โ€“ 1:35 p.m.

Wednesday, March 7
Platform Prelim โ€“ 10 a.m.
Platform Final โ€“ 12:35 p.m.

Each event's top 18 preliminary-round scorers will advance to the final. Final placing at the conclusion of each event will be determined by adding preliminary- and final-round scores together. The top nine scorers in the one-meter and three-meter competitions will earn spots at 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilin in Columbus, Ohio (March 14-17). The top eight platform performers will earn berths. Additionally, if a diver earns a qualifying spot in at least one event and a top-12 spot in another event, she will also qualify for NCAAs in that event.

Belanger was named Pac-12 Diver of the Meet at the conference's championship meet in Federal Way, Wash. (Feb. 21-24), notching first-place finishes in the one-meter (324.40) and three-meter (369.75) contests and a fourth-place showing on platform (283.25 preliminary round). She joined Kristen Walls (1993, 1994) as the only Bruin diver to win the one-meter and three-meter titles in the same Pac-10/12 Championships.

Monahan had a standout month of November, earning the conference's Pac-12 Diver of the Month award after posting a new career-best score in the one-meter contest (309.38) at Arizona State (Nov. 4), before returning to Los Angeles and dominating the Trojan Diving Invitational (Nov. 10-12). The senior posted one-meter (300.05) and three-meter (301.85 preliminary round) wins in the USC-hosted event.

Shiver shined down the stretch, posting her best score on platform (247.88) against USC (Feb. 10). Yanovsky, meanwhile, turned in three-meter scores of 286.73 and 289.05 versus Pac-12 powers Stanford (Jan. 26) and California (Jan. 27), respectively.

Maria Polyakova, who is redshirting this season, picked up wins in the one-meter and three-meter competitions at last year's Zones meet. Polyakova was joined by graduated senior Annika Lenz and Monahan in receiving three-meter bids, while Polyakova, Monahan, Lenz and Belanger packed their bags for NCAAs on one meter. Belanger and Lenz turned in qualifying scores on platform.
