LOS ANGELES - Senior Kylee Perez hit home runs in both ends of Friday's doubleheader sweep at Easton Stadium, as the top-ranked Bruins defeated #21 Oklahoma State 7-2 and South Dakota 11-1 in five innings.

In game one against the Cowgirls, the Bruins (41-3) recorded 12 hits from seven different players, as Perez, senior Madeline Jelenicki, junior Paige Halstead, redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia and redshirt freshman Aaliyah Jordan all had two-hit games. In the circle, freshman Holly Azevedo went the distance to improve to 13-0, striking out six in seven innings and giving up two runs, seven hits and two walks. She struck out two in the second and fourth and retired the side in order in the fifth.

The Bruins scored four times in their first at-bat. Freshman Briana Perez and Jordan hit back-to-back singles with one out and Garcia walked to load the bases. Junior Brianna Tautalafuaย then reached on an error at short to allow Perez to score the game's first run. Following an RBI groundout by sophomore Bubba Nickles to score Jordan, Jelenicki singled to left to bring in Garcia and Tautalafua to make it 4-0.

In the second, Kylee Perez hit her fourth homer of the season, a shot to straight-away center, to give the Bruins a 5-0 lead.

Oklahoma State (35-15) scored single runs in the third on an RBI fielder's choice by Madi Sue Montgomery and in the fourth on a solo homer by Whitney Whitehorn to cut its deficit to 5-2.

But the Bruins got both runs back on one swing in the fourth. Jordan singled with one out and came home on Garcia's ninth homer of the season, a bomb to left, to put the Bruins up 7-2.

In the nightcap, UCLA (42-3) had 11 hits from seven different players, as Nickles, Briana Perez and juniors Taylor Pack and Zoe Shaw all recorded two-hit contests. In the circle, senior Johanna Grauer moved to 4-0 on the season, striking out six in five innings and limiting South Dakota (15-34) to six hits, one run and no walks. She struck out two in the third and fifth and had a 1-2-3 frame in the second.

The Bruins broke it open by scoring eight runs, all with two outs, in the second. With one out, Nickles doubled to center, and one out later, scored on a double to right-center by Pack. After an infield single by Shaw put runners at the corners, Kylee Perez cleared the bases with a three-run homer to right, her fifth of the season and second of the doubleheader to make it 4-0. Briana Perez followed with a double to right-center and scored on a Jordan single to left to up the lead to 5-0. A walk to Garcia and a single by Tautalafua loaded the bases for Nickles, who cleared them with a double to left-center to increase the margin to 8-0.

UCLA added three more in the third. Pack led off with a triple to center, and after an infield single by Shaw, scored on a fielder's choice grounder off the bat of Kylee Perez to make it 9-0. Kylee moved to third when Briana Perez reached on an error, with a grounder to second by freshman Julie Rodriguez plating the Bruins' 10th run. With Briana at third, freshman Malia Quarles reached on an error, as Perez scored to make it 11-0.

South Dakota scored a run in the fifth on an RBI double by Camille Fowler, but Grauerย closed out the Coyotes in the 10-run win.

The Bruins play another doubleheader on Saturday against South Dakota (4:30 p.m.) and Oklahoma State (7 p.m.). Free live audio will be available on UCLABruins.com.
