Third-Ranked Bruins Run Win Streak to Eight

LOS ANGELES -ย Sophomore Bubba Nickles had three RBI on a two-run single and a solo home run, while senior Selina Ta'amilo went the distance in the circle for the win, as the third-ranked Bruins defeated Stanford on Friday by a score of 5-2 at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins improved to 33-2 overall and 8-2 in Pac-12 play, while the Cardinal fell to 20-15 and 1-6 in league action.

Ta'amilo struck out three in her seven innings to move to 8-1. She allowed two runs (one earned), two hits and one walk. Ta'amilo recorded 1-2-3 frames in the second, third, sixth and seventh, retiring the last seven of the game. Offensively, five Bruins combined for six hits.

UCLA scored in the bottom of the first with a two-out rally. With senior Kylee Perez on third after reaching on a fielder's choice and redshirt freshman Aaliyah Jordan on second following a walk, Nickles stroked a single through the right side to plate both runners to give the Bruins an early lead.

In the second, junior Taylor Pack made it 3-0, launching her second homer of the season to left-center.

The Bruins would add a pair of solo homers in the third, as Perez led things off with one to right, her second of the season, to make it 4-0. UCLA extended things to 5-0 two batters later on Nickles' fifth of the season to left.

Stanford would get on the board in the fourth on a pair of grounders which scored Kristina Inouye and Molly Fowkesย to cut the deficit to 5-2. But Ta'amilo would allow nothing else, setting down 11 of the last 12 of the game to close out the victory.
