SUGAR GROVE, Ill./CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Four Bruin individuals completed the first tournament of the year for UCLA, while another group got started with the first team tournament of 2018 on Sunday.

In the final round of play at the Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms, junior Harrison Mahon was the top Bruin finisher, placing T-4 (E, 216). After Saturday play was suspended by darkness, Mahon finished up his second round with an even-par 72. In his final round, the junior shot a 2-under 70, posting five birdies on No. 18, 6, 10, 11 and 14, one bogey and one double.

Freshman Bryan Wiyang Teoh tied for 28th (+7, 223), finishing up an even-par 72 in round two before shooting a 2-over 74 for his final round. He made three birdies on No. 2, 10 and 11, three bogeys and a double. Freshman Ahmed Ali, who tied for 44th (+11, 227), completed a 4-over 76 in round two and shot a 1-over 73 in his final round, making four birdies (No. 18, 9, 11 and 12), three bogeys and a double. Freshman Rory Feng tied for 61st (+15, 231). He posted an 81 (+9) in round two and a 78 (+6) in round three, closing with two birdies (No. 18 and 2), three bogeys, a double and a triple.

In the team event, the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Cedar Rapids Country Club, the Bruins are tied for ninth at 5-over (293) after 18 holes. 

Senior Jack Ireland is the top Bruin through one round, shooting a 1-under 71, putting him in a tie for 14th. He made five birdies on No. 3, 5, 9, 13 and 15 and four bogeys. Senior Cole Madey is tied for 23rd (E, 72), producing four birdies in a five-hole stretch (No. 3, 5, 6 and 7) and five bogeys. Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara, sophomore Eddy Lai and senior Patrick Murphy, who is playing as an individual, are all tied for 49th (+3, 75). Yoshihara made three birdies (No. 2, 5 and 6) and six bogeys, Lai posted three bogeys and Murphy had two birdies (No. 11 and 9) and five bogeys. Freshman Sean Maruyama is 72nd (+5, 77), producing three birdies (No. 5, 14 and 15), five bogeys and a triple. Senior Phil Delisi, playing as an individual, is tied for 77th (+7, 79), recording two birdies (No. 2 and 3), three bogeys and three doubles. Delisi took the lineup spot of Yoshihara, who moved into the starting five after sophomore Devon Bling was scratched with an injury.

The Bruin starting five in round two will start at 7 a.m. PT/9 a.m. CT off the 10th tee in the order of Maruyama, Lai, Yoshihara, Madey and Ireland. Delisi (8:30 a.m. PT/10:30 a.m. CT) and Murphy (8:57 a.m. PT/10:57 a.m. CT) will tee off on the 10th.
