EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Mac May had a match-best 22 kills to go with four digs, while senior Cali Thompson posted a double-double with 24 assists and 15 digs, but the Bruins dropped a three-setter at Oregon on Friday at Matthew Knight Arena. Set scores were 25-23, 26-24, 25-16.

Senior Savvy Simo added 12 kills and eight digs, sophomore Kelli Barry had 13 digs, sophomore Devon Chang notched nine assists and four digs and junior Jenny Mosser posted four aces and three kills. The Bruins (9-7, 4-3 Pac-12) hit .186 for the match.

The Bruins led the entire first set until relinquishing the last five points of the opener. UCLA scored 12 of the first 15 points, serving five aces, including four from Mosser and one by May. The Bruins also got two May kills, a block and kill from redshirt sophomore Sabrina Smith and three Oregon errors. UCLA only scored 11 points for the rest of the set. The Ducks eventually tied the score at 19, but the Bruins would score four of the next five on two May kills, a Simo kill and an Oregon attack error to hold a 23-20 lead. But the Ducks scored the next five to win it by two. May had nine of the Bruins' 11 kills, Thompson added eight digs and Barry posted six. The Bruins out-hit the Ducks, .250 to .217.

For the second set in a row, the Bruins' largest deficit was only two, but they would fall behind by two in the match. Down 13-12, the Bruins scored four in a row on kills by May and Mosser and two Oregon attack errors. The Ducks rallied back to go ahead 21-19, but five of six for the Bruins on two kills each by May and Simo and an Oregon error gave UCLA two set points at 24-22. However, Oregon scored the next four to win the second by a total of 26-24. May had eight kills, Simo added six with three digs, Mosser tallied three kills, Barry had five digs and Thompson posted four digs. The Bruins were out-hit, .263 to .200.

The Bruins scored the first two points of set three, but Oregon (6-10, 2-5 Pac-12) netted five of the next seven and didn't trail for the rest of the set. The Ducks won the third, 25-16. May and Simo each had five kills, as the Bruins were out-hit, .444 to .108.

The Bruins are back in action on Sunday at Oregon State at 2 p.m. The match will air live on Pac-12 Network.
